My monster back from the vets, swallowed something she shouldn't.
After being in the vets overnight they've tracked the object through and hopefully she'll pass it normally. Poo investigation to follow.
Hopefully we won't have to pay the £2k quoted for the operation. Been landed with a £800 vet bill.
Any insurance recommendations? Never needed it in the past and now have paid the price for our negligence.

We're using Pets@home insurance for our dogs, it's been very good - have needed to claim a couple of times. Would never be without pet insurance - nothing is cheap - my mate's 1yr old pup needed 2 new knees - he wasn't insured and was landed with a £6k bill after his daughters rejected (with extreme prejudice) his 'we could get it put down and get another dog' proposal.
Anyway, back to cats - we've adopted a new girl yesterday. 4 mths old and on her third home already due to feckless twat owners. She had a few hours of extreme nervousness, but now seems happy as can be. Pics soon...

Also, if anyone in N Ldn is looking for a cat, we were trying to adopt this 3-legged cutie who had been on their website for weeks. They had concerns about her being around the dogs, as she's only recently lost the leg, so we couldn't take her. Go on...

Just looked at their policy in details and they are a bit complicated but the underwriter is Hiscox and they are meant to be really good. Might give them a call to see if we can switch even if it means risking not having part of her covered for a couple of years...

Any recommendations for a good quick release collar with bell? Don't want newkitty to be a danger to herself of wildlife.

We used the Ancol one for a while
http://www.ancol.co.uk/cat-products/collars-harnesses/break-away-bucklesEasy to put on an off, cheap, comes with bell etc. However, our two cats kept losing them (average one every couple of months) and while inexpensive we got too lazy to buy replacements. Helps that ours very rarely bring any animals home, so we figured they are not great hunters and are not a huge threat to wildlife (could be well wrong here though!).

Higg's was 5.8kg this morning, she's a very different animal now that she's a couple of kg lighter than she was - runs around more, has a lot more energy, isn't knackered after 5 seconds of "chase the ribbon" and in need of a lie down. It's really nice to see how much happier she is.

Thanks for that - I've ordered 3 so we'll have some spares...

New neighbours have a bengal. Now ours is too scared to go out because there's a fucking leopard outside. All the other regular cats have disappeared too.
Max came running in all fluffed up like he'd been chased by a dragon and hid behind the sofa yesterday. This is the dominant male in our sector...

Went in to the garden this morning and there was a fox the size of a retriever just standing there watching me, nonchalantly.
That must be why the cat has been all "nope" about going outside recently. I thought it was another cat but seeing the fox explains why he has come bounding in all fluffed up and hidden under the couch a few times, sometimes with something audibly behind him that always vanishes.
Mates cat used to chase foxes but he was particularly vicious.
