I don't know. Kai might only be 100km behind Sarah, but she is already over a pretty big hill he still has to climb.

Frank's been averaging 301.68km per day.
He's got 2051km to go which means to hit his target he needs to average 267

Ah ok, eight more cycling days then

According to the video he was knackered, but yeah, Mike has been doing longer sleeps in the past 3days compared to Kristof, although he put in a longer one last night..
My guess so far is that Kristof is playing the tired role while in reality he's still managing the thing, Mike seems to be doing the opposite, plastered but acting like he just started riding.. Not sure if mind games or just self convincing strategies, not even sure they are checking phones/social networks anymore.. -

Mike's still checking - his twitter is pretty active. He sounds a bit high
-
• #482
"Think I may know why I can't seem to keep my eyes open at night. Might need glasses"
Hahaha
-
• #483
Mike on the move again after an hour and a half break.

Jesse reporting Mike saw Kristoff getting supplies so aborted his plan to resupply at the same location and bombed off, haha, seeing there are at least three crews making documentaries about the race, hope the are capturing this drama
-
• #485
And now he's missed the turn! Hope he realises soon, unless he needs something from Corryong before he heads back up into the mountains?
-
• #486
Eeek... Mike taking the wrong route

Someone tell Mike!

I recon he knows... his tracker hasn't updated in c.20minutes but the last point was listed as stopped. I predict that next update he'll be back on track.
Edit: Although his current location looks like a reasonable spot for a nap.

• #489
Yep. Nap time.
-
• #490
750km left, does Kristoff squeeze more than cat naps from this point? Its who sleeps least now wins isn't it providing no mechanicals or weird weather?
-
• #491
Or a hipster in town breaking your collarbone.
-
• #492
There goes the 100k lead again..
-
• #493
Yep and most of it was uphill

With the small matter of a mere 600 or so kilometres remaining, and expecting no unforeseen events, Allegaert seems to have this.
While I obviously doff my cap before such riding ability, I have to say I didn't find this one as interesting as the Transcontinental, where the difference was made because riders had to find and choose their own routes, and for me that added a lot to dot-watching.

The TCR has a unique feel to it unlike the other ultra-endurance races but this event, to an extent, made up for it with the crazy amount of support it received. Additionally, this event is the only event I've witnessed that has had serious contention for the top spot bar TransAm 2016.
But yeah overall I agree and Transcontinental 2017 is going to pretty especially exciting with @skinny defeating Kristof by at least a day or two :)

Allegaert in Canberra now, Mike not moved for a while and 200k ish behind. I'm inclined to agree with @Oliver Schick, Allegaert's got this.

How long did Mike sleep?didn't expect such a big gap this morning
-
• #498
3+ hours

There's amazing video on the IPWR facebook page, Kristoff looks and sounds as if he has just stopped in the middle of a little bike ride. Hard to imagine how he looks so fresh this late in the race.

IPWR reporting that Mike has been having vision problems.
"My target had always been 19 days, + 1 day to pack/celebrate and flight on day 21"
