You might be right, it's not that clean a break. Either way it's absolutely cunted.

just picked up a new project and have posted in the help identify thread for pointers but wondering if anyone has pointers to provenance, Mercian?

I spied these ... Hylix build quality OK? Dubious lack of material at the fork end.
Nice profile though.

Oooft, just noticed the cut out bits near the dropouts. That doesn't look sturdy... I'm thinking maybe steel is a better option for a bike that gets ridden on crappy roads all the time.
-
• #113381
you trusted those time forks that are probably 20 odd years old.
-
• #113382
Yeah, but then they snapped.
-
• #113383
I'm interested in those forks as well. But if you google Hylix you find a lot of broken stuff...

Weird setup today

This curious thing coming my way. Needs some love, don't know what it is, a Genesis or not?
No bottle cage bosses but rack mounts? Who knows, should be fun. -
• #113386
nice .. get them brazed on
-
• #113387
Could do, would be nice to add some touches, internal routing, dimples for tyre clearance, 3 cage mounts maybe
-
• #113388
internal routing
y? borderline goes into 'just build a new frame' territory.
Rest makes sense .. Anything cage mounts on forks maybe .. kinda like:
-
• #113389
Is it? I don't know about pricing, figured it was just drilling and cleaning up some holes. Definitely won't be spending custom money on this.
-
• #113390
What frame is that?
-
• #113391
Just had a reply from Genesis. They confirmed it is one of their prototypes. Its from 2011 and was owned by a member of staff who left the company in 2013. So that's kinda cool.

And Mario will paint it upstairs: https://www.instagram.com/vazcyclefinishes/
I'd just keep it external brake cable, not a huge deal. Get this too: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/301822356050?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Cannondale Trail SL

Before he resprayed it
... and before I changed the wheels, modded the forks, swapped the brakes, pedals, stem, tyres and saddle :)
-
• #113396
Haha I only meant the frame
-
• #113397
Is rear disc mount likely to fold the genesis in half under braking?
-
• #113398
Has anyone tried to push a longer B-screw into the 105 5800 mid cage mech and fitted a SRAM PG-1130 11-36 cassette and lived to tell the tale?
-
• #113399
yes but on 6870
-
• #113400
Won't that screw up the indexing on the smallest sprockets?
Doesn't look like debonded to me
