yeah good idea.
I was disappointed to see ME:Andromeda was getting less than 60fps, but my GPU was only hitting 1500mhz, W3 has it slammed at 2000mhz all the time.

In truth it may well be one of those things that you need to benchmark in order to tell the difference. Wouldn't be surprised if things like photo/video editing and 3d stuff were the sort of applications which benefit from dual channel operation tho'.
*scurries off to buy another 16GB....

Moving house this weekend. Need an ISP with a 12 or 6 month contract (only got a 12 month tenancy).
AAISP: not unlimited, rather expensive, one day...

where are you moving to? if it's in london the relish mobile network broadband thing might be useful

The difference in speed between single channel and dual channel RAM is tiny.

in other news my lg ultrawide arrived and asides from marking the back like a twat whilst adjusting the tension on my monitor arm it's in place and looks fucking amazing.
need to dig out a thunderbolt cable for my retina mbp but can now use my xbox and mac mini on same screen.

WHAT is THAT!

• #3787
jfc. How is that only 34"??
-
• #3788
Think I found the problem. Clearly you need more screens.

jfc. How is that only 34"??
might just be the angle of the pic. looks less overbearing from further back...

I just got the same monitor i think-it's arrived but PC hasn't yet. Having only ever had a laptop in my adult life, and never owned a TV it's like my study's been invaded by an alien presence. I keep turning and looking skeptically at it thinking "that's far too big" then reminding myself it's going to be awesome when
watching the Roubaix/Flanders/Giro/Tourtrying to point and click on stupid little red vertice handles in 3D modelling programs or CAD. -

I hears ya but I've my head full of too much school shit to devote the time to even researching and sourcing it part by part then putting it together. For £1150 I got a pretty beasting machine with keyboard, mouse and 32" monitor, and have spent another ton on a 16gb RAM upgrade so I think that's probably in the range of what i'd have been spending even on self-assembly.
Many thanks for the input tho-big outlay so helped steer me in the right direction.

nope. not the angle. it's huge.
And is that a server or a 3d printer? what do you DO with your energy drinks and xbox controller?

Just got around to tidying my desk...
32" 4k Samsung is the monitor.
The single visible wire goes up to the Vive motion tracker in the room - not found a way to eliminate that, bar chasing into the wall...

My laptop has Vista which is soon to become unsupported. Is this Windows 7 Licence legit? I can't see Amazon selling dodgy things but a search brings up costs varying from £1.50 to £150 so I'm not sure what is right or not.
-
• #3796
it's marketplace so no way of knowing.
and amazon sells plenty of dodgy stuff through the 3rd party sellers in marketplace as they just act as middle men in a lot of cases. had fake memory cards and the like in the past.
I got windows licences from play-asia which could be just as dodgy but of the three i purchased they've all worked fine.
http://www.play-asia.com/microsoft-windows-7-pro-3264-bit-oem-key-only/13/709gc7
just be aware you need the correct windows 7 installer for the type of licence key you have.

Ok, cheers. I hadn't realised it was marketplace which makes a bit more sense for the price.
I'll have a look at that play asia link as well. -

Why not just go Win 10? I've bought from here before, probably similarly dubious but I've not had them cancelled yet.

Not sure if my PC has enough power to run Win 10 easily but I'll have a look and see.

Try running something like gpu-z https://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/ whilst playing and see what maxes out, the gpu or the cpu
