I'm pretty sure at this point it's rims not tyres

Bugger :-/

get new tyres.
No point indulging in half measures; new bike time
-
• #555
....and nuke it from orbit.
-
• #556
Get some proper tubeless rim tape and try that?
-
• #557
Tried that already. I got a new rotor today so I did a bit of bouncing which seems to have slowed it a bit.

The Horizons?

Oui

Anyone tried the Hutchinson fusion5 tubeless? Need something ~25mm for a xr22t rim this summer. Currently running Durano with tubes and don't want to be getting goathead punctures every other week.

One of the reasons I gave up on them. They were a hassle at every corner to the point I couldn't be bothered to ride the bike. Try some other tyres before you give up on tubeless.
I've started running non TL gravel kings on non TL rims and totally haven't expected them to stay up...but they did! -

I got a new rotor today
Least obvious tubeless setup problem ever.

Do consider Schwalbe pro one, my first time setting up tubeless was on a xr31t, super easy!

Tempting - Pro One looks similar to the Durano which have been great and recommend for non-TL. Not cheap though, so wondering about the Hutchs.
-
• #565
pro ones are quite cheap @ bike24.com
i think mine were like 30e per tyre, and those are the new 2017 version.

Bouncing seems to have fixed my leak, but doesnt explain at all why it happened, how on earth would I get a rim leak after this amount of time?
-
• #567
Is it welded or pinned?
-
• #568
WTB ST i-25, i cant remember off hand, but i suspect pinned?>
-
• #569
The ST ones have a sleeved joint. The Frequency and KOM rims are welded.
-
• #570
So can a sleeved joint open up a little over time?
If so it may explain why they suddenly stopped being air tight.
-
• #571
Yes it can.
Usually means the end of the rim is near.
(I experienced it once, albeit with a very cheap rim - not tubeless) -

Just got myself some Pro ones on my new bike and they're holding up so far. Must be a combination of stainless frame and the tyres but they're super smooth.
-
• #573
Ok, so since bouncing the tyre as been fine, but as soon as I topped it up the other day its as flat as a pancake. How can i do to better seal the valve?
-
• #574
Have more or less avoided looking at tubeless set up so far, but after rotten luck with punctures recently, thinking about tubeless for my TCR bike.
Got some questions - do tubeless setups lose more air than normal tubes? Don't want to have worry about losing air and pumping tires every day.
Are the Schwable Pro One's still the best bet for doing long miles at a decent pace? Any other recommendations?
Are my fears about tubeless being unreliable/flaky unfounded?
-
• #575
Fears are unfounded, will seal many cuts and ones that are big enough to fuck the tyre badly enough to warrant putting an inner tube in would have more than likely punctured an inner tubed system anyway.
Airloss is no worse than inner tubes - I'd hazard a guess it is less bad.
Pro One's have been pretty awesome for me.
I'll try that, and report back.
