AAAWWWWW YIIIISSSS.
No fucking way. So, green machine for track fun and the red B racecar whenever it gets finished?
I don't suppose you want those harnesses back for the green one?

Anybody know anything about Audi gearboxes?
Weird but I think my racing style might have worn the old girl out.
Down shift to third makes an ever so slight buzz on the synchromesh unless taken very slowly with max clutch pedal.
Feels pricey?

Are LR discoverys notoriously expensive to insure?
Im looking to buy an early 2000s one, 25 yo, liscence for 7 years been insured on numerous cars as a named driver but never my own policy and cant get much below £1400?

Unfortunately these days they will shaft you on any motor until you've built up a NCB record.
Disco is a chuffing big chunk of metal. -

Without your own no claims, then you are going to spend a lot on insurance. No idea if Discos are more expensive than anything to insure.
However, what they are expensive on is repairs and maintenance. Older discoveries are fucking sheds that break in expensive ways at any given provocation. Look at the thing funny and something will fail. I would steer well clear. -

avoid disco's if poss. poundstore range rovers.

I don't have any NCB (not have I been driving regularly for the past 6+ years) but I was surprised to see I could get insurance on a 5L XKR for well under a grand. I think it's because I'm 30 though :(

Yep, when I finally got my car licence at 40 or 41 everything was about £800 to insure, whether it was a Micra, or a Cadillac. So I bought a Mercedes 300TE-24.
(I was quite tempted for a while by the £1000 Cadillac Seville STS though) -

I'm 40, the Volvo is still more expensive to insure than the 911.

Not sure if you're in London or not but location is likely to be as high factor on price as age or anything else.
Park it on the street in East / south east London and watch the £££ fly.

Possibly, sw17
I put it as street parking as i wasnt sure what else to classify it as, its private car park but not 'secure' (no gated entry)
-
• #33471
On street parking around there will be expensive.
According to http://www.motorcarinsuranceuk.co.uk/post-code-ratings.php#S, sw17 is group F (bad postcode / extremely high risk). This is only a guide but it could explain it.

That's surprising, I assumed a disco would be cheap, my defender is around 1400 and I'm a teenager living in London... try aviva's online calc as it was by far the cheapest for me.

• #33473
My VW Polo would've been £1400/year with on street parking in Dalson. I sold it.

aviva gives me £2100...
Yessssssssss. This is going to be good if its come along that quick and taken your mind of an Esprit!
