frame showed up, proper barn find judging by the bugs hitching a ride in the BB shell.
a quick clean of all the grub and we can get on with it.
first job is to decide whether to stick with the original slice carbon forks, or use the straight blade Time ones I have.

go straight! is it ahead?
-
• #4
nah, it's just before the ahead era. Got a nitto dynamic
-
• #5
still. straight would look better. get a nitto post and some m106 bars, then whack some black sram/campag on there.
-
• #6
straight it is, but it's gonna be the DA 7700, as well as being period perfect, its just gorgeous to look at

so I'm all setup and ready to go, all the parts clean and ready when.....

on the plus side though, just found a replacement, a Caad 2 Saeco, which is nice...

Cad 2 is here, it's a 98 model, same as my r200.
decent nick, but not looked after so some bubbling under the paint around the cable guides.
Forks are gonna look great.

Shame about the other frame, this looks boss though. Deffinitely go with the straight forks!

I'll never learn, this is a 52 not a 54 I should know better than to trust people.
anywho, threw some parts on to get an idea of how it looks and to see my bike fit measurements can be made to work.

decided to get it built up any way, my old. cad2 was a 54 which is only 1cm longer in headtube and top tube. That's not a massive difference, so I'm gonna ride it and see how it goes.
shorter headtube means a huge set of spacers, so i'll get that cut down if I keep the frame.

That's really good. Digging that threaded Time fork and those wheels. Mean machine!

Just got a glimpse of this today, digging the window display. Bag of beans to boot an all, lovely stuff.

Ooooft very nice
Just secured the final step in a long list of frames that I've had in search of the one.
Its gone something like this: Dolan Cougar - Raleigh Mtrax - Basso Gap - Vitus 979 - Giant Peloton Superlite - Cannondale r200 Cad2
I'm probably going to keep this pretty period correct, neo-retro is nit really my thing. Thinking DA 7700 with either the Slice forks that were stock or some Time carbon jobbies.
