Are these things actually any good?
http://www.amazon.co.uk/RockBros-Titanium-Spring-Suspension-Brompton/dp/B011U0GGDILook nice but reviews are non-existent

This is purely base on customer's Bromptons with similar spring; they creak.
I have several bike with those aftermarket spring, all of them creak loudly as if never been lubricayed (even GT85 doesn't do shit).
I'm sure some of the higher end one doesn't creak, but can't says.

Squeaking sounds pretty annoying, maybe I'll hold off on that.

I've got a copper Sterling damper (sic) from Bikefun in Taiwan. It's plenty stiff. Much stiffer than a firm Brompton elastomer.

I've got a machined bit of nylon for a solid suspension block

does it make the ride better? It's only about £30 (without exorbitant customs charges) wondering whether it's worth the investment.
tis pretty though..

It feels faster on smooth roads, but noticeably more jiggly over the gently collapsing cobbled speed bumps up here in Eloi. Overall I think it's an improvement. And it is mighty purdy.

Sound about right, I have the firm block, and it slightly faster on smoother stuff but a little more jarring in Covent Garden, but not enough to be uncomfortable.
I assumed you'd tell me to avoid Covent Garden with the afrermarket spring!

Don't avoid Covent Garden. Just get out of the saddle.

Rack installed! Yeah!
The beauty of Brompton, it's a rear triangle from 1992 and the 2016 rack was a perfect fit. The screws of the easy wheels were seized I really struggled to remove them (split heads they were FFS! Had to heat the thing up and file flats to the side of the head... Got there in the end, copper grease on the new screws)Anyway, love it... Although I dibbed a pizza rack on classified recently, they're so 2016! 2017 is all about the Brompton Quiche Rack!

hey, what risers are they?
-
• #2914
Tioga, about a 60mm rise, not sure of model except that it says "60 rise / a" on them.
I cut them down to Brompton bar width. -
• #2915
when and where did you buy them? Looking online, they seem to be out of stock and Tioga USA don't even have handlebars on their website.
-
• #2916
one last question, is it a solid bit of machined metal or is it metal surrounding a plastic core?
-
• #2917
when and where did you buy them?
Less than a year ago, from a small eBay supplier, brand new at reduced cost, probably the last ones they had. I had Ritchey risers before with less rise, I wanted something with 70mm rise so probably just googled that and got whatever was cheap and looked good enough.
@hillbilly and Madame Billy have Renthal on their Bromptons, looks good, have you considered them?
-
• #2918
Dunno. I haven't opened it up. Seems pretty solid to me, but it has some springiness.
-

I have some renthals, that I brought off here, geezer mentioned that they were motorbike bars, feel the central section is a bit too wide so not much hand/grip space when you cut them down.
Looking for an alternative in case they don't work..

So have lusted over the NOV designs magnetic clamps for the Brompton, after seeing them on dinokiddo and being frustrated with the original ones. Was going to bite the bullet with the order and the devil take the customs charges, when it came up as either 20 or 40 dollars of shipping, which caused me to pause and then go direct to NOV who charged me 10 dollars shipping, put it down as a gift, so I've got no customs charges, also wrapped it up in a cocoon of bubble wrap..
Will buy direct from NOV again.. -

That actually look great, the smallest of thing that make the biggest of difference when in use.
Should order 2x for the main frame and stem, where is NOV tho?

So, who wants to know where the chitter was coming from?
Instinct, instinct, instinct.
Always go with it.
Unless you have form for being wrong. :P
It wasn't the main hinge, but it was the mating surfaces of the hinge in the bars / stem.
I applied a little grease to both and the chittering was slightly reduced.
I subsequently applied a MkI section of inner tube, thusly:
and it is totally silent.
Like a nun's fart.
Not yet sure what I am going to do as a long term solution which is maintenance minimum, or preferably, free - but at least it appears that I have identified the source of the chittering. -

Return under warranty
I have a firm block already, I just want a stiffer ride.
Another question - what size headset spanners do I need?
