I bought a vavert advancer rack with some vavert mudguards for my pub bike a couple of years ago from planet x. The whole point of the bike was to be as cheap as possible and the rack and guards were 30 quid (I think the rack was £12.99). The pub hack now get more use than any of my other bikes and both rack and mudguards are holding up great.
I had to use p clips to fit the rack but it's been solid, even helped to mop up the last bits from a house move.
