They rebuild the track through the winter and use a lot of sand-cement in places.
My bike after a race, it's caked in the stuff.

Thx. I'll leave it a few days before I ask what all the little knobs on the Fox rear shock do.
I've worked out the seat post myself, it works just like my office chair.

That was a longgggg time ago. Mine had the PUSH damping upgrade, so so smooth. So so heavy. No idea about preload though I'm afraid.

Anyone in here ride peaks, lakes, north/mid wales regularly, my riding group seems to be gradually disbanding and I want to get out more, I'm based in Manchester.

I'm in Bolton. Sustrans Route 6 comes out of Salford towards Radcliffe, passes Philips Park (Prestwich) and there's loads of unofficial trail in the general Irwell/Croall valley area within a few miles of Philips Park.
Quite a few of the bike polo crowd also MTB and live south of the city centre. @snottyotter lives near you, might know of something more local than Clayton Vale (by the velodrome).

Levy massive represent.
But no, Clayton Vale is closest and easiest for a quick blast really, it's like 4 miles away or suttin. -
• #9865
Cheers for the replies, Clayton Vale is ace for an after work blast! Hitting up the peaks tomorrow, starting at Hayfield and doing the Jacobs ladder route, it's going to be weird riding in the peaks when its sunny!

I lack the necessary skill (and desire) to ride my Tallboy LTC to its potential so I'm looking to sell to fund a full sus XC bike.
Ebay is full of chancers selling overpriced Spesh Epics... where should I be looking for a second hand bike/frame and fork combo?

Pinkbike and Singletrack are always decent points to start.

XC racer forum might be worth looking at.

Anyone interested in a black market riot frame i'm selling ?
-
• #9870
Thanks chaps.
Not adverse to letting the whole bike go. But trying to value it is nearly impossible. There isn't another for sale in the UK at the moment from what I can see! TallBoy LTC is rare... TallBoy LTC sized XXL is very rare!
Thinking Scalpel, Epic or Lux.

Not sure how many XXL FS XC frames there are?
I haz an Epic - light S works build - very good, faster than my HT on XC courses. Also recommend Salsa Spearfish if you like doing miles.

Looking at the figures reach wise certainly the Scalpel and Epic are similar the the XXL SC.
To be honest I ended up on an XXL because i felt the others were too small because i was used to XC bikes.Only thing I have found; Cannondale have specced Stans Crests which have a weight limit of 86KG... I'm 95. I suspect on a FS I could probably get away with it. Otherwise i'll stick some flows on which i currently have on my XC hardtail and have held up to 4 years of abuse with only 1 trueing a few weeks in.
I went for a ride on some trails at the weekend and it made my mind up, the Santa Cruz is simply too much bike for me. Everything I want to do can be done on a hardtail, but i'd like the extra comfort and niceties that come with a bit of bounce. The other thing I discovered I enjoy ups more than downs...

Scotland has too much trail access. You read it here first.
I don't understand how he doesn't just explode when he lands
