• Edd tweeted a link to that Youtube video last night, I watched it then (as I'm working from home due to plague) had Wheeler Dealers on in the background today, followed by a whole slew of American car shows.

It was very interesting watching them whilst bearing in mind what Edd said - reaction shots, talking heads etc, that's cheap and easy TV, filming someone performing a technical task from start to finish to a level that could be used to attempt said task is a very different thing.

And of course the detailed technical stuff along with the before and after was the very reason to watch the show - if it's now to be "high energy personal interaction" with some cars in the background, with a load of time dedicated to "this time we're not sure we'll get it done in time" conversations it's going to be shit.

Edd's bits are the only bits I watch. Watching Mike Brewer buy a car is frankly pretty dull, as is watching him sell it. The technical meat in the middle was the only good bit (skipping the fake reaction 'Wow, that's amazing'/'What have you done?' bit in the middle). Sounds like they're going to turn it into something more like Car SOS, which I find unwatchably awful. Just as soon as they start getting stuck into the technical stuff, they then cut to Tim Shaw failing to be in any way amusing or entertaining.

Oh well, it was good while it lasted.
