I hadn't even thought of the idea that paramedics would need helmets and body armour. Obviously they do for things like this, but it just shows what they're sadly prepared for.
My godfather's best friend is a paramedic. He told us of how his bosses had unofficially recommended buying slash proof baselayers and gloves to wear 24/7. I'm not surprised body armour's become standard issue.
