  • That does actually look promising. I'm pretty sure you know this but in case you don't, Hammerite comes in a spray can too which would be easier to apply evenly, I suppose, than using a brush.

  • What's that you got as the upper head set cup?

  • Just some random headset parts to center the fork. (No headset installed yet)

  • Yeah i know. Not as many colors available though from the look of it.

  • Forks received. They sent me black painted ones instead of raw though..

Got mine today too. Raw could mean "without bike frame" perhaps?

My frame came today as well and it was without seatpost clamp; did yours come with the frame?

  • This guy might have a tip or two about Hammerite

  • nice project !

i've been looking at these frames for a couple of days, these look really nice - but i don't get how is handled cable routing - Is the frame designed for screwable cable guides ? Is there a cable stop for front derailleur ?

  • Yeah i guess. Not mad though. One less part to paint. Mine came with the clamp.

I guess that's the brush on type. I might buy a small tin and try it out on something else than the frame first. Supposedly the aerosol spray paint version is not as good, and the hammered effect not quite as deep. If using a sponge type brush it should be easy to get a good even finish.

  • I will be running 1X so i won't have to deal with a front derailleur. I guess you could get one of those clamp on downtube cable stops. The bb shell is threaded for a cable guide.

I'll get some of these and run full brake and gear cable outer along the downtube.

  • The single cable guides look like they might be ideal for attaching my rando bag to my Nitto M18 front rack. Ta!

  • oooffftttt

  • That was quick! ;)

  • Not mine! Franco Bikes. Just paint inspo :)

  • I know. Thinking about nicking the idea for my SSCX.

  • What frame is that?
    ---edit---
    I just read your reply.

  • Wew that looks goooood

  • How did they manage to hide the rear mech cable on that Franco?

Regarding the build; I'm wondering if 2.2's will fit inside the fork legs without rubbing, on a 25mm inner width rim. What are the tyres you have on in the picture?

  • How did they manage to hide the rear mech cable on that Franco?

    DI2 through the headtube

  • Thats proper neato.

  • Paint update. Couldn't decide between red, black or green so i went with a neutral gray silver. Not quite as exciting but i think it'll look good. Applied first layer with a brush tonight. A bit runny here and there but quite happy with the result overall. Will leave it to dry a day or two and add a second layer.

  • And re gearing. I feel very lost in the jungle of pull-ratios. I wanna run a 10s bar end shifter, 11-42 cassette and a single chainring up front. What mech and shifter do i get?

    Are these shite? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/282387507518?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

  • They are Shimano 10sp compatible so I'd go with this.

14hours left on the auction with 5 bidders. Put it on a snipe and cross your fingers maybe?
