In all seriousness:

Truck drivers out here are the gentlemen of the road. Gus asked us who was leading the race and told us he had heard news of the #IPWR over his local radio station.
He said "We're all making an extra effort to look out for riders on the road". #Legend

His tracker showed him scratched and doing 40km/hr+ at one point so guessing someone picked him up, think he scratched just after Ceduna

Videos today of the front runners showed them with brutal head winds yesterday, mean while cyclingmaven was just crossing the 90mile straight and had heavy rain

When will the race not look horrible? When they get near Adelaide?

You mean terrain or weather? Not sure about latter but around Adelaide (east of Port Aug) is definitely nicer and the population goes up rapidly so less of an issue refueling. More hills though and more trees.

Just looked at the route, the head down the coast so could be windy but definitely more traffic and people, towns and stuff.

Only 30 k between the two leaders at the moment .

Incredible. Do they have a camera on the line in case it comes down to a sprint finish?

Hope so. But the race has only just begun.

As there's more places to refuel soon, it's easier to ride through the nights when there's less traffic and sleep during the hotest time of the day. So that might work.

So mike has mentioned in several videos now that he can't get any sleep despite trying and has wasted time trying to rest without success.surely that has to catch up before the end?

Will Hammond be able to capitalise on any errors to come and get into contention?

Was thinking that... however, the latest videos of Mike are a lot chirpier.

Also he mentioned he's not carrying a proper bivvy set-up, what's he got in all of his bags - this seems like his heaviest kit to date?

Mike has't slept in 36h, jet lag? Despite that his average pace was similar if not at times faster than Kristof. Hammond capitalized on Donncha, but if you look at the average pace she's actually lost road to the leading two.

Race is about to get really interesting.

Also, really loving the extensive coverage, almost makes up for the boring fact of having a fixed route for all rather than a TCR like approach

Don't know but compared to a lot of them with a full on bike packing set up, Kristoff is carrying jack all, looks like he is just out for a long weekend ride

I was wondering about coverage, how much they like every man and his dog filming them for YouTube and how much they just want to be left alone. Enjoying cycling mavens updates from the road but the main guy posting on Facebook for indypac seems proper intrusive and insensitive to the riders at times
