  • It's easier to judge a push happening than "did he hang onto that bottle longer than x seconds". They threw Nibs off the Giro for hanging on to the car remember?

    There are often fines dished out for the more minor incidences of stuff like that too that no one even finds out about. They used to make for interesting reading at the bottom of cyclingnews reports.

    But technically to the rules, getting a handsling off a bottle is not OK.

  • If the rule was "no bottles from cars" then it would be easier to penalise. But it's not, so there is some scope for leniency. This was black/white push/no push. There's no rule for "if the push is not longer than 2seconds it's ok".
