I am just going to swap the clamp that takes a standard M6 bolt
M5 is more common for clamps with pivoting nuts as M6 takes up too much space, some of the weight weenie clamps use M4 which is certainly strong enough in a 12.9 grade as long as the nut is of equal quality.
ebay is full of purple ones of the right general design, from under £2
That's not M6
It's not a button head either.
Check with your thread gauge, my screen ruler is pointing to that be M8×1.0, not the standard ISO coarse thread pitch M8×1.25. That will just make your quest even more challenging. If it were me, I'd bin the Hope clamp which is an ugly lump and get a cheap generic one with a pivoting nut which uses a common type of screw.
