After watching R dilly-dally her way around I thought I'd give it a go with the pro "I'll just head straight to that yellow dot and get on with the story" mindset. 4 hours later, I've still not got to the marker as too much other stuff keeps distracting me en-route. Enjoying. Especially the silly little environmental mini-puzzles to get those seeds.

This is exactly it.
Those yellow markers are about 15 mins walk across the map away (and much less with fast travel and around 40 shrines complete) but about 2 hours of gameplay away once i've faffed around with whatever is in between me and it.
You know there are 900 of those korok seeds. Fuck that.
I'm a little over 30 hours into Zelda now.
Beat a couple of bosses, opened up the map, done a few side quests and around 40 mini dungeons. It's really, really great. The world is so full of stuff to do and try to move from one point in the map to the place you want to head usually means an hour or additional discovery distraction (in the best way). It really reminds me of Skyrim in that regard. The fact that the map doesn't just spam quest markers at you (like assassins creed) every time you unlock a new area is fantastic and means that i'm constantly on the look our for stuff.
Story so far is fairly nintendo and nothing special but it's compelling enough to keep playing to story line.
Can easily see another 100 hours being put into this in the next month. Can't wait.
