  • Watched a bit of Zelda stuff on YouTube, fuck, can't wait to play it... The Wii U version looks fine, a few frame rate issues apparently but nothing disastrous...

Think I'll hold on a bit before getting a Switch, see what else comes out first...

  • Just started playing the last guardian, and it's amazing. The camera is a bit unwieldy at times, but I'm not doing any fighting yet so it doesn't matter.
What does matter is the first time Trico follows you or comes over when you call, or you escape some part of the ruined city to bathe in glorious sunlight...
Smiled more in the half hour or so I had to play it than I have done in any game for a while..

  • I know nothing of mods but you may find you have to edit a config file to unlock more than 30fps!

  • for some reason I didn't know that you won cards from all gwent players so generally I've just not bothered playing the ones that weren't highlighted yellow. woe is me. I have however completed all the gwent quests apart from Collect Em All.

  • Only got 6 more cards for collect em all and can't for the life of me find anyone else to play, guess there's some merchants in the arse end of skellige or something. After those I only need the Geralt and Thaler cards but they're later in the story apparently

  • There are some merchants you can free from bandits or in villages that have been abandoned and need the monsters clearing out, look for ?s over s little group of buildings for those.

  • Anyone use a wasd game keypad thing? I broke my hand a couple of years ago, and my pinky now gets quite sore/stiff if it's doing a lot of CTL work. Thinking of getting something a bit more ergonomic.

  • I'm going to frame this comment...

  • Can you murder a merchant and then they're not there anymore? I missed some cards in White Orchard and the innkeeper isn't there no more. (Yeah, I'm Gwenting now too...)

  • Is that for a Gwent quest or general cards. General cards are random as I understand and can come from elsewhere. Unique Gwent quest cards seem to have second chances - if an NPC dies you can either loot body if you see it or there's a chest/box in their living space with the card after they're gone - that was the case for a couple of cards I've found.

  • shrug

My hand hurts when I play computer games.

  • You were more fun when you drank...

    weeps

  • I stopped drinking?!

  • Those innkeeper cards should be available from a merchant by the bridge

  • Just picked up Grim Dawn on Steam. It's like DII smerged with Titan Quest with a different world.

Tough, isometric ARPG goodness so far.

  • Been playing it for a while. Really enjoying it but get lost in the maps some times

  • They aren't- apparently that's what happens with PC and PS4, but not yet fixed for Xbone. Never mind, have a decent deck, and almost a Nilgaardian one too.

  • Just been given beta access to the Gwent game. It's the one bit of Witcher I really can't get into and I'm shit at. Not sure if I'm crap at buildign a deck or just crap. This will expose me weakeness even more..

  • Where's mine? I fucking love gwent.

  • best gwent approach is use the deck with the 8x catapults which you can double to 16x with two of them and the second king card that doubles all ranged weapons. (nilfgardian?)

couple it with the mid-range cards where you lay up to 4 of the same kind and they get multiplied each time.

and finally use dandelion to boost your infantry lines.

use your spy cards early to build up a larger hand at the start of each round, if possible use your medic cards to grab spy cards from your discard pile if your opponent played them in the previous round.

play your non-destructive cards first and then slowly build up your lines being careful not to exceed the limit for the opponents scorch card (or just keep all your cards under the highest card on your opponents so they can only scorch themselves). save your multiplier cards until the end when the opponent is running super low on cards to limit the chance they can destroy them.

usually I tend to use my spy cards first to build a large hand while the opponent keeps using a lot of their cards, then I use enough low/mid-value non-destructive cards to get my score close to what the opponents have now built up and eventually they'll get to the point where they yield as they are low on cards then I play just enough to get my score higher than theirs.

round two I smash them with everything I have left.

usually end up with a score of about 150-175 for second round with all cards used.

edit: you can ignore all weather/clearance cards. use decoy cards if you want to be able to steal spies/scorch from the opponent.

  • I'm a little over 30 hours into Zelda now.

Beat a couple of bosses, opened up the map, done a few side quests and around 40 mini dungeons. It's really, really great. The world is so full of stuff to do and try to move from one point in the map to the place you want to head usually means an hour or additional discovery distraction (in the best way). It really reminds me of Skyrim in that regard. The fact that the map doesn't just spam quest markers at you (like assassins creed) every time you unlock a new area is fantastic and means that i'm constantly on the look our for stuff.

Story so far is fairly nintendo and nothing special but it's compelling enough to keep playing to story line.

Can easily see another 100 hours being put into this in the next month. Can't wait.

  • After watching R dilly-dally her way around I thought I'd give it a go with the pro "I'll just head straight to that yellow dot and get on with the story" mindset. 4 hours later, I've still not got to the marker as too much other stuff keeps distracting me en-route. Enjoying. Especially the silly little environmental mini-puzzles to get those seeds.

  • This is exactly it.

Those yellow markers are about 15 mins walk across the map away (and much less with fast travel and around 40 shrines complete) but about 2 hours of gameplay away once i've faffed around with whatever is in between me and it.

You know there are 900 of those korok seeds. Fuck that.

  • What's your Xbox name? I can forward it to you. It might work
