• Danimal, depending on weather the gondola service opens mid to late May.
This is a nice time to go as fairly low midge count.
You can get single trip tickets or all day multipass for uplift, singles are not cheap.

The red run is fairly mild, starts off with around 1km of boardwalk which can be tricky if very windy, this red track intersects with the direct line just below the big world cup wall ride, you can pootle down the fireroad or chop onto the WC track.

The WC track is not overly technical, big jumps can be ridden around, some of the lines/jumps are WC only.
The track has an easy start, going to rock gardens. It will give any full suspension bike a good work out or snap it.
It can be done on hardtail, and has been done on rigid, you need to be nuts for that.

Unsure whats happening down the road at Glencoe Ski center, but they have an open bench chairlift and did have a couple of tracks. The Glencoe Black run is shorter than the Forts but more technical.

Cracking day out, most people struggle after 5 WC track runs as the relentless battering takes it toll.

    lulwut

  • Yeah I'd love to try the WC track but it isn't open until May, I'm there in early April, so I may have to go back some other time.

I'll think about having a go on the XC courses, will have to look into renting a bike as I don't think it's worth taking mine all that way just for one day of riding.
