Decided to distract myself from my current uni project for a couple of minutes by switching over everything I could at home since I picked up the forks from @el_presidente today, next up tyres and brakes from the shop tomorrow along with a super spinny ratio, Im thinking 49/20 but open to suggestions?

I feel like that's a huge ratio for cross. Not that I've ever ridden or built a cx bike

I agree but theres no way I can justify buying a new chainring right now haha!

So the bike is finally finished and Ive gotta say it feels ace, the forks change the way the bike feels completely and its brilliant, I managed to fit a set of schwalbe cx tyres on along with a 105 cant to cross top brake setup and settled on 49/19 as the ratio (mainly as this was the biggest sprocket size in the shop. I rode it back from Battersea to Deptford yesterday making as many diversions as possible to ride through muddy grassy terrain and it handled really well even with my loaded up bag on my back. The only problem I'm going to face is the lack of traction through the rear wheel when I skid...

Many a cyclo cross enthusiast will snear at this bike and tell you it is not a serious cx bike but I think it is cool. It is an urban cross bike.
Do you think you will be able to attach those clamp on cantilever brake bosses for a rear brake?

Haha thats very true, much in the same way that roadies sneer at track bikes on tarmac. The problem was money and space and I spent the majority of my life back home riding off road on MTB, Dirtjump and BMX so wanted to make something completely inappropriate. Lets see how it and me hold up at Incredibly Cross tomorrow...

looks rad, must be great fun to ride that one
My Rat Champ has gone through many revisions but now I need a FGCX set up so that I can carry on making a dick of myself through the winter. I don't want to use my current wheels so am going to use the ones off my Kitchen Bike (Profile hubs laced to TB14s which need rebuilding with new rims since I've bucked them about 10 times already) and will be switching out the superzero seat post for the C4 from my CAAD10. I have also ordered a cheap front shimano canti with cross top lever setup and picking up a carbon CX fork tomorrow. Although the possibility of running a mtb hydraulic brake on risers does sound tempting for the near future! Lets hope I can fit a CX tyre in the rear stays... (oh and since I'm racing incredibly cross this weekend and only own an SPD SL setup flats and straps pedals is gonna happen and probably end badly)
