  • Just asked my LBS to get it in for me. Senacre Cycles in Maidstone. I doubt you're local but for anyone that is I can't recommend them enough.

  • Like that! White saddle/black tape works on that colourway. :D

  • Too small for me. (dangerous this window shopping on internetz)
Thought the link would be nice for someone else Medium yellow/black £299 Lee valley

  • I really like this!

  • @yetidamo

How easy was the front brake fitting. The spec info i have seen states the brake hole is wax filled and bunged over and easy to unbung/unblock.
Is that the case ? (or drill job)
    Reckon a 28mm tyre will fit front&rear ?

Excuse the questions, but your the first to pop up with one :)

  • Hey @853Superfly no problem at all. I'm running 25c tyres on open pro rims (so not the widest) and there's loads of clearance. Pretty sure 28c would be fine in both frame and fork.

No drilling required. Brake went straight on. No wax involved either!?

  • Cheers :)

I might have weak google-fu or yours might actually be the only non-shop related and forum hit for the steel vig.

The info i have seen reguarding the fork brake hole is it's easy to unplug and it's been wax plugged with a hard bung over the front. The older Vigs needed drilling as the hole had been pinned and filled, some drilled, some managed to drift the pin out with a hammer blow.

Rumours we might have cycle-to-work attempt 2 at work (first one was blocked by head office) so a brakeless complete bike might do for my midlife crisis, and just bolt on my own brakes.
I will proberly ask more questions until i get see one in a shop someday :)

  • My LBS actually built it for me. I did handle the frameset before it was assembled but didn't remember a bung. I'd thought I'd double check with the mechanic and he confirmed that the brake hole was unbunged and ready for the brake. In fact it even came with its own brake bolt as the fork is quite deep. The frame isn't drilled for a brake though.

  • Nice to know about the oversized fork coming with an extended brake bolt :) and didn't need drilling.

  • Hey guys, looking for a 56 vigo. Preferably the 2010-2012 blue and white, frame and forks. Not fussed on condition.

  • Apologies if this has already been covered, there's a lot to read here! Does anyone know if there's any difference between 2015 and 2016 models other than colour ways? Does the black/yellow 2015 model still have the tapered steerer fork?

  • Sorry, should of mentioned its the Vigorelli, although i'm seeing black is back as both 2013 and 2015?

  • Very very nice that. Lovely build, looks proper.

  • Look like a fun alternative to the Surly, how was it?

  • Yeah its awesome, got a keeper here, how was the Surly you mean or?

  • in comparison to the Surly.

  • Which Surly? The Mash has a lot shorter tt, high bb and more over lap and basically still feels like a track frame, Surly's felt more laid back and generally more functional as you can fit mudguards and racks, but as for general road buzz comfort they feel no different

  • The Steamroller!

  • Well it's got better brakes than the 'roller and geometry is different, but you probably know more about that than i do

  • I got an idea, but you are the one who now ridden both.

I'm somewhat tempted to go for the Mash Work over the Steamroller as a strong fixed wheeler for city and town.

  • I like both! I do prefer the mash, but the mash wont fit a front guard and you can only fit a raceblade on the back, yet the roller could happily fit some sks longboards, probably a bigger deal in the winter

  • Anyone selling an mash/parallax etc.. ?
Size 56cm upwards and in any
    condition
    Money waiting!

  • Well it happened. Cruising happily into work when someone wobbled up next to me on the same frame as mine. Wearing rugby shorts, chunky running shoes and a Muddy Fox helmet.

The cost of getting a "Hipster-by-Numbers" bike.

  • Oh the affinity.
