Thanks - I may take you up on that. Going to have a look at a Datum next week.
Also still interested in the Soma Fog Cutter, although this is more similar to bikes I already have so probably doesn't make that much sense. Just looks really nice.

Condor has come out with a gravel bike frame

What kind of tyre size do people think you need for gravel/hardpack but not full off-road? Part of my interest in these bikes is the fact I found the gravel bits of the Camel Trail quite unpleasant with 28s on my Fratello - and I'm probably going to end up riding there quite a bit with my old man as he gets older, it's local to him and there's no traffic so he quite likes it.

Works out quite a bit cheaper on cycle scheme, but fair enough, their prices have gone out of line with a lot of the competition over the last couple of years.

I dont have issue with price/perceived value, I am happy to pay Dom Mason the same money for one of his bikes. Its just bizarre in this day and age to market and add premium for 'Handmade in Italy'.

Is bikesnob where you get your inspiration for your builds from?

I'd explain it, but I can just link to your thread

Something between 30-40c, plenty of tires to choose

I guess I'm wondering if 32mm is going to be enough of a change - I'm leaning towards bikes that are still pretty audax-y in geo, just with the extra tyre clearance that discs seem to provide.

tukt the same as tyte?
-
• #868
went for 30mm this summer because I mainly use this for work and not gravel

Look like a good size and seemed to work.
How's your experiences with these brakes? I'm tempted to get it, and liked the idea that I adjust for wear.

feel-vice they are exactly what I thought they would be: somewhere in the middle between bb7/other mechanicals and full hydraulics. They modulate better than mechanicals but feel somewhat murky/muddy compared to full hydros.
I've generally had pleasant experiences with them but somehow I managed to soil the pads of the rear brake when chancing the summer wheels, heh.

From your described, it sound like a careful trimming of a proper full compressionless housing will sufficient in making it feel like a full hydraulic.
Will be putting those on the Elephant with SRAM 1ospd shifters, 11-36 plus 46/34 a good ratios.

one additional benefit is that they are quite small in size so setting up mudguards near them is easier than with bb7 or hayes

yeh my cables could use some upgrading. I've had those same jagwires for two or three years now

Yokozuna Reaction, you won't regret it.

those same brakes are available as juin tech r1 or yokozuna. The yokozuna ones come with yokozuna cables. Dunno is it the reaction -cable though, but might be worth to consider if upgrading cables at the same time.
