Ok, no worries. When the 60ccs don't fit, let me know and I'll deliver a pair of marathons to Paddington !

Were you doing the Sunday Echappee North thing?
My tyres after yesterday's 'gravel' ride. I should definitely have taken my tourer/cx bike instead.

I have now ordered Schwalbe Pro One 28c and long tubeless valves. Hopefully it is great. Ill give an update when wheels are built and tyres are mounted.
Tyres were 33gbp on Mantel and valves 15gbp on Tredz -

26" slicks - I'm considering schwalbe kojaks in 2"
Anything else nice and fast in this size? -

I'm really happy with my gumwall City Jets in 1.95. Tenner each, 6 months commuting with no flats. Cheap enough not to worry if they don't work out.

I got those for my GF bike, they feel very fast and light for such a fat tire. Look great too
-
• #4358
So you took lightweight race tyres on gravel and you're annoyed they didn't hold up?!
FWIW I've put over 6000km on my 23mm G+. One flat. -
• #4359
I didn't say that. I am just saying I broke my race tyres and need new.
The GP4000s is my mates. Everybody on road bikes had issues. I wasn't expecting as harsh conditions as we met. I took the only big tyres I had that fitted my road bike. But I wish I had taken a different bike with bigger tyres instead.

My corsas have been cut to shit this week, with only minimal gravel

I guess cotton walls are fragile in general. I almost bought a new pair as I liked my G+, but Pro Ones were same price and tubeless set up was cheaper for me than starting to buy 80mm valves inner tubes for my new 55mm rim wheels, as I already had tape and sealant.
-
• #4362
Quick question to you and @umop3pisdn, what rims width you were riding with?
-
• #4363
I have been on Mavic A719 for a long time, but I have just bought a pair of 55mm tubeless sausage carbon wheels from Stayer Cycles. Can't remember internal width but outer is 25mm
EDit: are you asking because of the sidecuts? I got them because of foolish terrain. Tyres have been absolutely fine most of last summer. Brought me from cat 4 to 3 and have done probably 3-4000km before I took them offroad and killed them.

You guessed right, the Corsa G thread is wide, but not quite enough to really wrap the rubber round to prevent the sidewall from getting too exposed when on a wider rims.
This simply mean even the slightest foolish terrain can cause more damages.
I have had customers' coming in with similar problem, it's usually when I found out they're riding their £4,000 road bike on the Putney towpath!

have done probably 3-4000km before I took them offroad and killed them.
FWIW, seeing the photos, the tyres thread still show a lots of life left, this is quite impressive when race tyres generally last half that distance.

Just checked my PO. They were mounted late april last year and ridden until late October 300km pr week. so maybe 2000-2500 km is more accurate. They were definitely not ready to retire.
-
• #4367
Okay, a little less impressive but still great for a race tyres to still show thread after 2-2,500km.
What I really love about the Corsa G is that the sidewall is starting to get darker and look better than the almost pale sidewall it was originally.

Setup a Schwalbe pro one 25c as tubeless on kinlin xr31t the other day for the first time.
Schwalbe were not lying when they say tubeless easy! No compressor needed, pump up to 70 psi using track pump and still holding air.

25mm, 28mm Corsa. My sidewalls are fine, it's the tread that has suffered.
-
• #4370
Good to hear. Can't wait to try them out now :)

Right, that prompt me to buy new 25mm Corsa G (£28 a piece not too bad), before flying out to Granada in late April.
-
• #4372
Where are they £28?
-
• #4373
Nowhere, work account.

• #4374
Sad face...

They are £33 on sigma sport tho
I was getting tired of getting slammed by potholes so wanted to see how big I could go on the Kinesis. After battling yesterday though, I might go for bigger but faster (if possible).
