  • Also interested but struggling to find a set of second hand omegas (either original or X).

If you can't afford new brakes, you probably can't afford a customised after-market back plate :)

My advice would be to get OG Omegas if you can, preferably with the roller cam follower upgrade. If you get an X, consider whether your stem would tolerate being drilled to act as a cable stop and use the stopless back plate. It's what CX racers did back in the olden days

and some of them still do

  • I have an original (last version with the roller cam)if anyone want to swap their X

  • I'm happy to buy it :-)

I'd just rather not pay the shipping and, as you say, I'd prefer the OG version... hence the 2nd hand search. There is a good chance I'll be in the US at some point in the year so may order some when I'm there if I can't find anything sooner.

Just bought some ventus so not keen to get a drill out :-)

  • Just bought some ventus so not keen to get a drill out

Ventus stem looks pretty solid, I think I'd rather drill that than either a Cinelli 1A or a modern thin walled forging :)

  • Is it the original post or the UCI one with the adapter sleeve?

    No sleeve, so I assume it's non-UCI.

  • If there are enough others out there who want to tackle it seriously, it's probably fixable :)

That would be ideal, but I think the cost would be prohibitive.

How much would another headset cover/hanger be? Is there a MOQ?

  • When I bought my p2 I was told that they had a reputation for slipping.

Sounds like they'll have to live with it for a while, as I don't want to risk 6.5Nm long term.

  • I have an original (last version with the roller cam)if anyone want to swap their X

Quite possibly, I'll send you a PM.

  • Ventus stem looks pretty solid...

But the cable routing would be pretty tortuous.

Perhaps go in from the side with a right-angle noodle for the inner...

  • How much would another headset cover/hanger be?

Lots. There isn't an MOQ as such, but the unit cost would be huge if you only ordered one.

  • My P3C seatpost has been fine so far, even though it looks like the previous owner has overtightened at some point.
    How heavy are you?

Looks like most of the clamping forces are on the frontal section of the seatpost, so you could add something like some helicopter tape to that area.

  • First race of the year Sunday, a 14mi SPOCO in the New Forest. Can't wait!

If anyone has the chance to do the Sotonia Leg Loosener next Spring, do it! Such a fantastic, testing course.

Was also my first road test of the P3 - Glad to report nothing fell off, although annoyingly the Garmin/Powertap had issues syncing in the car park (being surrounded by a hundred other PM's) and wouldn't work even after a disconnect and calibration. Fine now at home, so will have to remember to do that before getting to the car park next time. #CSB

  • It's not mine and she's pretty lean.

You mean to increase the size of the post for a snugger fit?

That might work, but then there's a chance the tape could slip.

  • the cost would be prohibitive

It's always a function of quantity. Nick Salazar probably had to sell 1000 brakes to get into profit. To break even on 10, I'd have to price them at about 10 times what he charges for a spare back plate

  • Typical.

Forgot I had the the hanger I took off of the bike the P3 replaces: 17mm stack vs 20mm for the Tektro & spacer combo.

There's plenty of meat on the top, so I'll see about getting it machined down in due course.

Is that the one with a collet to lock the hanger to the steerer instead of a clamp?

  • Yup.

Fits nicely on the collet inside the bearing.

Do you have bad news for me?

  • I'm kinda happy I have neither the time nor money to mess around with Omega brakes...

  • Do you have bad news for me?

No, I like the design. I wish I'd thought of it :)

  • Having cut the steerer, I'm relieved to hear it!

  • I bought this with the idea of lightly sanding off the decals and having a carbon ring on my road bike but its arrived and I've realised I'd prefer light than aero and can't really be bothered.
Before I return it, does anyone on here want it?
Its a 53 tooth, 130 BCD 11 speed. Its from CRC and sold out now hence the offer

  • PM incoming (can you post?)...

  • I'm about to head to the post office so it can be with royal mail in 15 minutes if you like
