Yes, see what you mean. I guess i was thinking of the "adventure" type bikes that seem to have slacker geo than a road bike.
The Datum is looking good at the moment for my requirements which are for a reasonably light bike, ideally with disc brakes, which can take full mudgaurds and 30c tyres.
Was considering something like a Soma Fog Cutter but i don't think that would end up being that different to my Surly Cross Check.

That's exactly what a gravel bike is. The Datum is certainly a great bike
