  • It's carbon and doesn't have a bolt in, I think the insert might be more substantial than a rivnut so I am wondering if it's possible to helicoil it.. I'll need to have another look.

  • Was it fixed using the method you showed? Or replaced entirely?

  • No idea mate i'm afraid!

And would you use the helicoil to pull it out or something? Cant say I've ever used/seen one of them before.

  • No a helicoil is a threaded insert you screw into a knackered thread to repair it. You have to have enough material to insert it into though.

A not uncommon use is to repair pedal threads on knackered cranks

  • So has your bolt stripped or just come loose from the carbon? I'm not sure that there is another way to attach bolt holes other than rivnuts, I assume otherwise they would have to be bonded into the carbon which is surely weaker than a riv nut clamping down? I'd maybe contact ribble and see if they can offer any details on the contruction if you're worried about trying the fix, im pretty sure mine have been drilled out by matt and fully replaced as the top of the new bolt hole looks brand new.

  • I think the insert - whatever it is, riv nut or otherwise - has broken. If you screw a bolt into it, it rattles about.

Luckily my dads a mechanical engineer and general wizard with stuff like this so I'm sure he'll have a solution. I was just curious how you fixed yours as the info might come in handy when the time comes to sort mine out.

  • Some new wheels on their way. I hadnt heard much about cosine but a pair turned up on ebay and although i'd been favouring carbon these fit the bill in every other way and are lighter that all but one of the carbon options I had found within budget and under 1/3rd of the price.

Great reviews all round, anyone used them?

  • 10er oriental carbon post on its way too, hopefully should be a good match for the weave pattern on the frame and seatpost clamp.

(I like that in the only illustration of a seatpost being used in the ebay listings they dont actually show anyone sitting on the saddle, gives me great hope)

  • Those wheels look good for the money.
    I think they're Wiggle's own brand

  • And for what he got them for, they're even better!

  • Yes they are, seem to be the only model they are still selling atm, they made some carbon ones which look REALLY nice.

From reviews ive seen they seem to be beating all the big names in their range and they sre minimaly branded which i like too (may be more minimal in the future but im unsure on completely unbranded alu wheels as they may look abit ebay fixie skidder with NoLogo wheels)

  • "lol shut up you're leaving cosine stickers on so they don't look like no logo wheels.

Destickered road wheels. End of." - @PhilDAS has spoken on the matter.

  • I mean, unless they're Zipps or something...

  • I just ordered those Cosine wheels for my GF's new build. £185 delivered to Dubai, which seems excellent for a semi-aero, sub-1500g wheelset. Quite like the fact they don't have silly graphics as well. I used to have Zondas a few bikes ago and I loved those. These are cheaper, deeper, and lighter!

  • Yeah they seem like an allround bargain (even when full priced).

  • Snore fest part but will look 1000000x better than the white hoods.
