This may be going off topic, but I can't find a specific thread other than AQA, but I have a couple of questions.
Nature Boy Disc - 135mm rear spacing.
I have a Hope Trails rear wheel. Loads of scope to adjust chainline with spacers.
I want a fixed rear wheel too. As far as I can see I have the hub options of:
Cheap - Trialtech Sport 135mm Rear Disc
Mid - Surly Ultra New Mountain Fixed Disc
Expensive - Phil Wood Kiss Off/White Industried ENOAre those the only options, any reason for one over the other?
What the hell do I do about cranks/chain line?
Where would be the best (cheapest) place to get the frame modified for internal brake and dynamo routing, and maybe light fixings?
I thought this would be simple, but I'm totally being thrown by not having 120mm spacing.

If you use the Surly hub then they chainline is 53.5mm which the same as putting a ring on the outer tab of a standard mountain bike chainset. I've got this set up on a surly cross check and initially I wasnt sure if everything would line up, it might me a couple of mm out but it's not making any funny noises or anything.

Flip the hope wheel over and bolt a cog to the disc tabs.
Gives you a chain line around 51mm suitable for MTB chainsets. -

Has this got lockring threads? (might not be an issue for you?)

This could be the option. Just need to figure out a crank. I'd rather a proper single ring crank than just use part of a double.
I'm temped to forget the wheels I have and the disc requirement, keep the drivetrain simple with a track spaced Mash Work frame, though that wouldn't give me the tyre clearance I'd hoped for.

I have a nature boy disc, the surly hub and a shimano zee crankset with no problems.
Would be interested to know more on your modifications.. im really considering trying to go geared on my NBD

Do all the countries All City dealers just have their stock linked to a central distributor?
I've found half a dozen places with a 55cm Nature Boy Disc in stock, but nobody with any other sizes. I need a 58cm.
I'm quite tempted to just go for the RLT 9 Steel, though that's getting away from what I wanted; simple, skinny tubes, big tires.

Surly fixed disc is very nice - I've done about 3500 miles on mine with no issues so far. Using a Spa XD-2 double crank with the ring on the outside, and a 107mm JIS BB. You could go for a track crank with a long BB (something like 122.5mm with Record Pista, IIRC) to get the chainline you need.

Glad I'm not the only one working on finding a work around crankset for doing a fixed NB Disc. Bloody faff trying to find something that isn't lackluster or a MTB crankset with a teeny tiny chainring.

This whole affair has been much more complicated than I'd expected. I thought it'd be much more straight forward and that there'd be more choice in the market. There is the idea mentioned of a huge BB axle, but I was hoping to stick with external cups.
I can't really thing of any alternatives to a NBD. I've semi-settled on the idea of the 853 version, but even then I can't find any in stock - I think I'd prefer the green version with the QR fork.
I've e-mailed Orlowski, but no response so far, but think Brexit may have made buying a frame in Euros not such the easy answer it was a year or so ago.
Another thing I've failed to turn up is any real comparison between the NBD and NB853 in terms of weight, stiffness, real world difference when riding.

Yeah there doesn't seem to be too many chainset options available to run fixed with the Surly hub. Sure there's the Zee or any mtb double/triple, but they don't hit the spot.
I've been wracking my brain for the past week about it, closest it seems is some SRAM road cranks with a CL of around 50mm, and that's about it. Probably gonna suck it up and just run it SS with a simple freehub setup.

Super rad. What is it?
Also your user name jogged my memory, took a bit of searching... Remember this guy?
Message for the 'BONK' - You clearly have a problem with the sale of this Baines and to be quite frank some of your theories are pathetic, if you do not have any constructive criticism then I strongly suggest that you take your ridiculous comments elsewhere! More than a few fellow enthusiasts agree with me on this one so take my advice and shut the F**K Up!

It's a 1956 Claud Butler clown bike. 16 gear inches.
Just fitted a Carradice and cape, so now pretty functional.Yep, I remember Martyn Parkes. He's still at it by all accounts.

Is the chainring on that 'next' crank oval or are my eyes confused
Being just stoned enough, the point were you can still get off the settee to make a brew.
