Do you have any prior frame painting experience?
If the answer is no, then it'll look shit.

Thanks!

No, so cheers. Sometimes you need these sanity checks.

Why not practise on a beater?
It's good for people to cry and you'd be providing a social service in addition to adding rust prevention. -
• #82456
+1 ... I say go for it
-
• #82457
Why don't we ask an expert - what do you say @hoops ?
-
• #82458
I can't believe I said that about Rob. A fucking expert.

What are the security skewers of choice these days?

Are you saying Rob's an expert in rattlecanning frames?
-
• #82462
I thought he sold Arrospoks.

Go for it. It's never going to be very hardwearing, or look super high end, but i'm sure it will be perfectly fine for your desired application.
Get some sort of tube to practice your sick fadez on first. -

I feel the same way sometimes.
It's a daily struggle. -

It seems to be a pretty tough engineering challenge to crack at scale.
Still using pinhead here. Eight years with countless lock-up hours and we haven't lost a wheel or seatpost yet. Touch wood.
Yeah I know they aren't immune to fairly basic attacks...I just don't care, because almost every other wheel in the stand is easier to steal.

I'm using Pinhead too for about 5 years. If someone wants to put the effort in to remove them then you can do it without the tool but it is a bit of a faff compared to nuts or a quick release.
The only really secure solution is a mini d-lock but if the wheels aren't too pricey then you've got a decent chance of keeping them with the security skewers.

Hmmm....any tips on frame prep? It's over a "satin" powdercoat.
-
• #82468
Key it a bit with some wet and dry. Don't overthink it. It's a rattlecan job. Spendinng ages trying to get a perfect finish is pointless. Accept it for what it is and have fun doing it, or pay someone to do it properly.

Cheers xx
So I don't have to scrub it meticulously with some special solvent?

I'm trying to remember the name of a tv show from around 94-95 that was on at the end of cbbc but before the simpsons. Can't remember which channel exactly...
Craig Charles was the presenter and he would introduce episodes of vintage sci-fi shorts - it might have even been the Twilight Zone. Wikipedia didn't come up with anything.
-
• #82472
I don't remember it being a game show... it was a long time ago though.
-
• #82473
I was 4 in 1995, so I don't remember it at all.
-
• #82474
Yeah, I was 7 so can't remember much.
It might have been cyberzone and then The Invaders aired afterwards or something... -

Have you taken a look at hexlox yet?
I have some and they're good. as far as I'm aware there's been no terminally bad feedback yet!
Doing home-made fades using a spray can - is this guaranteed to look shit? It's for a beater, but I don't want to make people cry when they look at it.
