that's funny

I'm not sure what a downhill rig is going to look like then..

The furthest I have ridden with a suspension fork is about 250 meters. And I don't think I'd ever buy one - but it would be the cleanest looking solution.

Nah, I vote for the return of the Girvin flex stem.

Specialized are ahead of you there ( kind of )

Those tubes in the third one tho!

There's a bit of Group B-type crazyness about those frames - and I like it!

Oh right.. I forgot about the oncoming zombie apocalypse!

Does anyone want to buy my sonder Camino fork?
Carbon w/carbon tapered steerer, mint condition, appears to be the same as the pickenflick fork..

Is a Genesis Datum a gravel bike or not really; more of a road bike with slightly bigger tyre clearance?
I'm considering some changes in the stable, and think the Datum might be in with a shout.

Looking at bikesys twitter line their appears to be lots of croix de fers going cheap at the moment

That's exactly what a gravel bike is. The Datum is certainly a great bike

Yes, see what you mean. I guess i was thinking of the "adventure" type bikes that seem to have slacker geo than a road bike.
The Datum is looking good at the moment for my requirements which are for a reasonably light bike, ideally with disc brakes, which can take full mudgaurds and 30c tyres.
Was considering something like a Soma Fog Cutter but i don't think that would end up being that different to my Surly Cross Check.

I have one but don't think i would call it a gravel/adventure bike, it only fit 35mm tyres, isn't any better with 650b wheels. I prefer my pickenflick/niner rlt for offroad stuff, it does ride nice on road though...

Looks good - I think it would be fine for what I want. 32c tyres would do for me. Does it take normal 'guards or some kind of bespoke efforts?
Not looking for something to go proper off road - I can use my Cross Check for that. This would be more for wet weather and if I want to put a saddlebag on with overnight stuff.
My other road bike is a Lynskey which is fine but has no clearance for mudguards.

yes, normal guards (not that I fitted any) - sounds like it would be perfect for you then

just having a look at the bish bash bosh - at first glance, looks quite similar to the Datum frameset?

I bought one of these a couple of months back when they were discounted before xmas. Haven't put huge miles on it yet but really happy so far. The frame quality is reasonable but I imagine inferior to the datum. I was also considering datum vs BBB. Went for the BBB as it'll suit the rides I have in mind a bit more. At xmas it was £1000 for full build with Apex 1x and hydralic brakes which also meant lot of extra cash to put into upgrading wheels and finish kit. I'm going to ship it overseas over the next week or two but you're welcome to come have a look in real life if you want to.

10s Sram? What derailleur and cassette you running? Thinking of a similar setup on my current build.
Standard gravel bike, 10 years from now..
