If it's flinty, don't use Schwalbe. I ride almost entirely flint around here in Devon and the only worthy tyres are Continental with ProTection or Maxxis with EXO casings.
For Tour Divide I used (and I also use around here) on my 29er Continental X-Kings, fast rolling, mostly grippy enough unless the mud is super squelchy. I think they do 26" too... don't forget ProTection sidewalls and tubeless...
26" tyre for off/on road touring? Me and Liz are doing the ridgeway soon. I used to live on it and have fond memories of flint, chalk, dust, wet grass, roads and slimy mud on my Raleigh ascender. It's usually easy going on rutted tracks but they're deep so shoulder knobs are essential. Lots of country lanes and dirt track too. Nuff flint round there so puncture resistance would be nice. Running tubes.
Her Troll has clearance for days so anything up to 2.7.
Looking at rock razor, nobby nick, aspen, happy medium and advantages but any recommendations welcome.
Sub £50 for a pair is preferable. Will be for spring summer conditions so faster, rather than a full on mud tyre. No contis.
