Quite soundly I'd imagine, as he's clearly mature enough to know that commuting on a cycle lane isn't the place for ego boosting 'races'.

First ride in for a few months, sore hamstring isn't quite as recovered as I hoped (although going straight from bed onto the bike in about 10 minutes was probably part of the reason). Quite enjoyed the knowledge that I was unfit so could mainly ride at an easy pace, had a white van happily keep its distance whilst I took primary past a rubbish truck and some roadworks.
Probably took me about 5 minutes longer from getting out of bed to being at my desk compared to the tube, with the saving on tube fare it's basically exercise I'm getting paid to do.

I wasn't racing either, I was riding to work. But sitting on the wheel of a guy riding a sodding Brompton for over a mile into a headwind and then buggering off without a word of thanks is a shame.

You picked a good day for your comeback. I tubed. Ugh. Somehow damaged the chain on Sunday (probs my massive thigh musculature and off the scale powerage). Suggestions for stronger chain for single speed?

Woman who I told to get cycling training a month or so ago rode around me and a bunch of cyclists stopped at a pedestrian crossing to jump it as a mother and child were walking across.
What kind of thought processes are going through the head of someone like that.

Just spunked £150 on a new drive chain and service. On the plus side bike rides like a fucking charm right now.

OH GOD.
COME BACK WINTER, ALL IS FORGIVEN.
Every undertaking, lane swerving, non indicating, no shoulder checking, space squeezing, red light jumping, queue jumping, pavement cycling, bullying prick was back on my journey home this evening.
Absolute fucking nightmare. Barely got above 10mph as I was having to compensate for the staggering morons that surrounded me.
Starting to agree with the Daily Mail types who think we should all have licenses...

Left earlier than usual this morning and things were fine the ride home however...
All of the above and a general feeling of unease all the way back.

You should try commuting around Fareham, on my 40 mile commute I saw a total of 6 other cyclists today.

Oops. Very odd. Was some odd noises coming from the rear mech today, fiddled with the barrel adjusters while riding, then pulled away from some lights in mid block, 10 metres later something exploded, snapping chain in process.
Anyone explain? Chain snapped causing it to wrap around the mech? I know the most likely explanation is the limit screw and shifting into the spokes but I've put weeks of riding into it since I last adjusted the limits...
Mech hanger looks ok and the spokes have lost some ano.

Only explanation is that all those leg presses over winter have paid off.

I have to agree with this.
Its the varying levels of road sense and situational awareness that bothers me rather than their average wattages not to mention just plain old lack of good manners.
What is this urgent panic folks have these days just to move forwards whether by foot, bike or vehicle?
Sometimes I look at what people are trying to achieve on the roads compared to the amount of impulsive danger/menace/risk etc that they display and oftentimes it's not even a couple of seconds they are saving.
Madness! just try and relax out there.

forum TShirt that never was.
How does a guy on a carbon roadie sleep at night after taking a draft from a guy on a Brompton for the full length of the Embankment cycle lane?
