No need for a neg carrier, critcal focusing etc for contact prints.
Just drop a piece if glass on the neg and paper and show it some light.

why bother shooting 4x5 if in the end all you do is make contact prints / get low-res scans.
Fun \o/ ?

I would like to do some contact prints in a series and print 3 or 4 to a sheet.
I'm also looking at a roll back for it, quite like the idea of 6x12 on 120 film.

That sounds nice.
I suppose going straight onto paper is possible/an option?

There was a Chinese 6x12 back I think. I don't know how flat the film ever gets.

I was at a camera auction the other day watching all these mahogany boxes go through
It got me wondering if you could hack one into a mega-landscape camera by replacing the film plane with an A4 flatbed scanner and run it off a Pi or Arduino.... I'm deficient in the software realm, but full of stupid ideas so I just thought I'd chuck it out there while we're talking large format in case someone else thinks it viable/interesting.EDIT: Yep it's been done to death - here's quite a nice attempt - http://web.archive.org/web/20060205031317/http://www.scannerphotography.com/cameras/current/index.html
(monorail 4x5 camera + canon A4 scanner). -

think I saw someone do this online about 10 years ago... without the Pi/Arduino bit. gives funny images.

So like a fool I mixed up my exposed and new films. Is it correct to assume that ones that look like the left are certainly used and the one on the right is certainly new?
Newb queries.

The one on the left is the used one because the film has been rewound back into the cartridge after it's been used. The one on the right still has the leader out, ready to load into the camera.

The roll on the left has all the film wound back into the canister, so it's probably (at least) been loaded into a camera then rewound.

Dreamy. Thanks both. Turns out I have an extra roll to develop that I don't remember shooting. Excite.

What a beast! Great logo on that, too.

Yeah it's a beaut of a camera, inverted and mirrored image on the ground glass will taking some getting used to!
Got film, holders and a developing spiral on the way. Cannot wait!

Beautiful Graflex. I have the perfect tripod for that, but I don't know if I can part with it. Gitzo Studex 5 Geant with geared center column. I always wanted to try a Graflex Speedgraphic or a MPP Technical Mk V/VI/VII.

Where can i buy b&w film and where can I get it developed?
Recently acquired an Olympus Trip 35 and want to run a roll of film through it to see if it still works. -
• #13570
You can get b+w film from here, or other places. There is a list in the first post of this thread about different places to process it.
By the way, since its not the first time its been asked, I'll add a section to the first post as a future reference point. Thanks for that.

Yep, 1st one is better
In other news I just loaded my first 12 sheets of 5x4 film...... I hope it's the right way round!
Cheers Tina, I plan on making prints but I'm now realising my enlarger will on handle 6x6cm negatives at the largest. There is a sort of photography studio opening in my village so maybe they will have a big enlarger.
