Oh man. That Gazelle. I'd like to get in line if it ever needs a new home. Mine (AA Special road) was stolen from my bike shed a few years ago. That track frame would be the perfect replacement for my Fauxnago.
It's gonna look amazing, your girlfriend is a lucky lady.

Oh good, I'm glad someone got those.
Best cheap wheels will be shimano r501 or similar, look on ribble or merlin.

Was thinking about some blue Oury grips for this to match the blue of the frame, but I have settled for black, with a touch of blue.
Also sorted some Ultegra BrakesReally I should have sorted a headset first... But ho hum

Here's the first proper shots of the Gazelle. Thanks to a 17T sprocket from @BigH and a half-link from @haveo we managed to get the rear wheel nice and tight (I know the chain is a bit loose).
It did have a turbo saddle. However, she complained. CONTINUALLY. Her ass and the turbo never really got on.
It feels like I'm sitting on a church spire.
I'd rather sit on an upturned fork instead of this saddle.
I'm less comfortable than the tyres as they roll along.
Is this designed for human sitting?
My poor butt doesn't deserve this.
WHYYYYYYYYYY??So we splashed out for a Brooks Cambium C17s in black. And it looks good.
Next job is to sand/cut the stem to make it sit lower. Possibly acetone the cranks and chainring. And in the long run, maybe sort a matching pair of wheels.
She hopes everyone has a happy butt day.
In other news, the Sporteur/Peugeot is way too big. So I'm taking one for the team and keeping it for myself (much to her dismay). I'm going to put Ultegra 6700 on it with a classic crank set, and classic-ish wheels.
The Swinnerton is on hold for the moment due to insufficient funds.

Looks smart. What kind of mechanism does the stem use? if its like the cinelli 1a's then its a pretty quick job. If its the wedge ones, it will take a bit longer to get the angles measured up when cutting it down but should be an easy fix

Stem cut.
Saddle Levelled.
Chain Tightened. -

To update this thread:
Nothing has happened to the Swinnerton.
The Peugeot is now mine so I'm building it as a Old Frame x Modern Groupo. I'm a pair of Ultegra 6700 Brifters and a pair of wheels away from having that complete. The wheels it's balanced on are my spare track wheels.
If anyone happens to come across a Peugeot Ultima as above in a small size (50cm top tube) then let me know!
The Gazelle is now "finished". I decided to stop being precious about braking on my front wheel - so the Gazelle now has matching wheels. I also changed the seatpost to a silver Shimano aero one, which looks much better. Finally, it has SPDs now too. I'd really like to change the Miche crankset out for DA probably, but that's not until I've finished some other projects first, maybe also build some nice wheels for it too... All in the future.
Photos to follow tomorrow.Lastly I'm stripping down a scrubby Raleigh Prima that I got for dirt cheap...
Originally I converted it to SS, but the steel wheels and dirt cheap parts meant it was a bit too heavy. I'm going to put gears on and make more useful. It's going to get a Nexus IGH and guards, super practical.

That Gazelle is beautiful.

Got a rear hub sorted and a pair of open pros coming tomorrow.
Think I'll lace the front to a non-branded high flange hub since they're relatively cheap.

36 spokes is maybe overkill for what my girlfriend needs, but cba with finding a different hub. Also 10 vanity points to me for lining up valve hole and logo

As in sneaks, so in tyres, gum is always hot

I think I'll go for 28c paselas then... Girlfriend had 28cs on before and said they were ok. Plus means I can reuse guards I already own.
I'm not being a weenie about this build by any means, but the girlfriend specified "less heavy" so it's really satisfying to look at the weight difference between old and new bits

Before I started this project, I asked what were the bit she liked and one of the things was this - the trouser guard thingy.
I've fitted the BB, cranks and pedals. (I know the ring is worn out, it's just a placeholder atm)
I had a cunning plan to cut the teeth off this old ring and use it as a chainguard. I forgot, however, to take into account that everything campag is stupid. The cranks are 135bcd, and the old ring is 130 bcd.
I do have a plan B - which is to cut the teeth of this 52T ring
However, I don't know if it will look quite right, since the old chainguard is chunky. This one will be
a) light
b) functional
but I'm not sold on whether it'll look right - I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes out for a worn out 135bcd, chunky ring. -

Not sure if I'm fully content with how the chainguard turned out - I think it's a bit too skinny but it'll be alright as a place holder :)

The bars for the Sporteur Arrived...
Thanks to @spotter for posting the eBay link.
They're a bit wide so will probably be cut down in due course.
Currently on the look out for a cheapish road wheel set for this (Aksiums?) once we have those, this project will properly kick off
