Does anybody know of any club TT's in/around SW London, or wider London area - 10s or 25s. Finding it difficult to get to grips with this secretive world...
-
• #14857
Would be very keen to know this aswell (around NW london aswell!)
-
• #14858
You can find a list of clubs in the London South and London West districts here:
https://cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/find-clubs?district_id=8Google/Facebook the clubs with the largest member base and you'll most likely find details of club TT's they promote.

We do some on the Amersham Road courses at weekends
Also Wednesday evenings at Hillingdon -

What about around Harlow? Can't see many on the TT website.
-
• #14861
I'm sure I've seen TTers up and down the A414 between Harlow and the Gt Amwell roundabout. Not for a while though. I think they used to set off or finish at the layby just up the Hoddesdon turn off.
PS - Fuck riding the A414 along that stretch.

• #14862
Harlow may be covered by us Lea Valley CC or some of the other London East Clubs. What sort of riding are you interested in?

The relevant districts know, but they don't all bother to list them online. They do publish slim volumes every year, you'll need to contact London South for stuff from the A22 round to the A3, and London West from the A3 up to the A41.

London North cover the A41 to A10 ish and they usually have their list online. http://www.lndc.org.uk/

Then search for events based on the course code you want to ride.

And CTT wonder why noobs find it hard to get involved.
-
• #14868
Eh, wot? TTs ain't my committee role!
Club tts are for members only, no? We have our open TT on Saturday 22 July. This year’s event will be held on the Brogborough 10 mile course (code F15/10).

Also, it's got traffic lights, lots of RAB and pothole action. So a good skills session if nothing else.
-
• #14871
Just some Evening TT's whilst I'm stuck working out there...

And CTT wonder why noobs find it hard to get involved
It's easy to get involved if you join a club which actually runs TTs, in fact in our club it's a disciplinary offence not to get involved :)

• #14873
Yes, that's a fair point. But to find out which local things are on, it can be difficult.
An interactive map with course locations on would a be a good way to spend money. Then maybe a directory of clubs that promote club events.

Anyone riding the LVCC 25 on the E1/25 on Sunday?

Then maybe a directory of clubs that promote club events.
Baby steps are needed. The CTT site doesn't even list the district web sites, and there is no consistency between districts on how they appear online, often relying on whoever draws the short straw. Not all clubs have handy lists of club events posted on their own web site, so a list of clubs which promote events would not generate a full list of events, whereas having CTT publish the event lists from every district would be a huge improvement which didn't rely on multiple amateur web sites to be kept up to date.
As part of what some people regard as a desirable reorganisation of CTT which diminishes the significance of districts, it would make sense for each district to have a section of the CTT site for district matters, rather than a completely separate web presence. Instead of going to lndc.org.uk, people could go to https://www.cyclingtimetrials.org.uk/londonnorth
I spent ages listing out events I could hit but to be honest I'm just not feeling the TT thang at the moment. I don't feel fast, I'd like to get rid of 3s off my 25 PB but to be honest I'm not even that bothered about it and chasing fast 25s seems a bit silly with TABR/TCR on the cards.
I've raced/trained so many times on that A31 course I swore I'd never ride it again unless they resurfaced it (or someone offered me cake) so I dunno what I'm going to end up doing.
You should totally hit one before TCR.
