Didn't find it a problem the first run but I skipped a lot of quests. Now I'm doing it for 100% (hence getting into Gwent) and it's sloooow!

Ah, I see. I haven't skipped any quests (except for gwent, which I'm actually regretting a bit now) but yeah all the witcher contracts give you bugger all xp and you just discover more and more. I not sure I'll be able to replay it when I've finished, I've already sunk so much of my life into it! Did you do the DLC's before or after completing the main story?

I'm surprised you've found levelling frustrating , it's seems really organic to me and I've always been levelled on or just below what the quest require. Maybe I've been lucky? I've just got to level 30 and decided to do Heart of Stone DLC before finishing the main game, no idea if this is the best way, lots of conflicting advice on interwebz!
