After having this awesome Glenfarclas at a tasting last year I had to get it when I saw the auction on ebay ... going to save it for a special occasion since it is as old as me ^^

My mum saw my modest collection of nice single malts last time she was over and commented "I didn't know you you liked scotch". I've been drinking it for 20 years. She bought me a litre of Grouse for Christmas. *thumbs up.

In my last job, someone I did a lot of work for said "you like scotch, don't you? I'll make sure you get something nice at Christmas"

Big thanks to @corneliusblackfoot who turned up for Sunday Lunch with a bottle of the good stuff to start me back on the road to Whiskey righteousness.

Had a dram with @Apone using the norlan glasses he was given as a present, and you are correct they are disconcertingly light, but you get good aroma, and the whiskey tasted smoother, less fiery on the throat in that first sip. But they feel plastic and relatively cheap for the price of them... Glad I got the chance to hold them as now I know they wouldn't satisfy weight wise.

Picked this Bookers cask strength up in LAX - $39 which is an absolute steal. It's punchy but watered down a little is good stuff
And whilst not whisky I also grabbed a couple bottles of Mezcal

Just curious why you're looking for moonshine? Is it for mixing or did you just want to try this particular brand? The idea of paying a premium for moonshine seems crazy to me. All moonshine is basically the same, it burns and it gets you fucked up quickly. Premium moonshine might be more drinkable, but only because they've lowered the proof, as with Popcorn. The notion that it's small batch is amusing--it's made in a massive distillery, which is antithetical to moonshine.
If you're interested in a similar American whisky that's clear and tastes like popcorn before smarting your esophagus, try this as its readily available in the UK and not that much more expensive than in US:

Cheers for the tip. A friend who spends a lot of time in LA mentioned that it was tasty and worth a crack.
Thought it would be good to try as a sipping whiskey - from what I've read it's not horrible firewater. I haven't been a cocktail bartender for about 7 years now, but I'm sure I could find a use for the rest of the bottle if it's rank on its own.

Isn't there plenty of other similar or even better bourbon that is not insanely overpriced ... I just don't see the point in paying so much more for the hype.

Yeah, ended up getting some Noah's Mill... lovely stuff.

You tried Pappy?
Good work, enjoy.
