Why don't you just get them repaired, or at least assessed?
Unless you weren't happy with the old sound it's virtually always worth it to bring 'em back. -

I've been on the same search & tested a few at Superfi last weekend. (I own a pair of Dali sensor 1s but wanted to see if anything around that price range would be an upgrade). I tried the Monitor Audio Bronzes, Dali sensor 3s & B&W656 s2. Dali sensor 3s were the clear winner but be wary that they are quite large so might not suit a every room (aesthetically), I didn't really like the bronzes as they were a bit metallic sounding in comparison. Ended up realising my little zensor 1s are brill for the buck & investing in a cartridge upgrade would be the way to go.
To sum - I'd say try and listen to some Dali Zensors if you can vs the bronzes...

Is anyone here running an Ortofon 2m Blue cartridge on a turntable? I'm just running mine in at the moment - biggest change in sound I've experienced on my very basic little setup.

Unless it's a classic model, I doubt it. Little demand for cd players these days.

I had one for a while - a massive step up from the 2M Red!

I just sold one that I inherited from my mom - $68 C.
Cha-ching. -

What model?

Ah, I'll pass. Will still sound good I'm sure but I like the philips DAC versions for tinkering with.

Thanks will do

I really, really want the Dali Zensor 3s now... Gah... I managed to prevent tired me from making an impulse purchase due to tiredness. The bigger bass is massively appealing. And the 7" cone. I realised that they're about the same price as the KRKs (but are passive).
Sleep deprived me is a shopaholic... Crazy.

Get LS50s.
-
• #3913
For how much?!
Holy crap sticks, if I can't afford the £300 for the Dali speakers, then I definitely can't afford those!
-
• #3914
Haha, yeah, I know... Maybe one day. Nicey but pricey etc.
I really want the wireless ones...
-
• #3915
If it's wifi sure, but not Bluetooth. Bluetooth is known to reduce quality of sound.
-
• #3916
They have an Ethernet socket so that shouldn't be an issue but it's nice to have the option...
-
• #3917
The LS50's are the flagship model and used ones haven't come down much below £500 but the Kef R100 are nice and used ones can come in under £300.

Hey, I'm selling an old amp and tuner if anyone's keen https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/301855/.
Thinking of selling my TDL Studio 2's after a decade of pleasure. Anyone got a big room? :-)
-
• #3919
Oh my... Studio 2s? How much are you after?
-
• #3920
Hnnnng. I said thinking!
Have to reconcile myself with never ever being able to find another pair if I change my mind. -
• #3921
If I decide to jump, I'll put pics and price later.
-
• #3922
Righto, I'm not saying I'd definitely be up for it, but would potentially be interested.
In other tdl news, I spotted a pair of cheviots on ebay today. The BIN looks reasonable, but I don't know how they compare to the studio series.
-
• #3923
Dunno those. Cheviot sounds like a tannoy model from memory??
-
• #3924
so I've changed tack a little bit and figured better to start with source upgrade than change speakers just now - so I won an eBay auction for a brand new Rega Planar 1 turntable with the performance pack fitted quite a few quid less than RRP, so well chuffed
will see how my Yamaha AS-500 amp and Tannoys handle it before splurging on new speakers

I wasn't completely daft, there was a Tannoy cheviot, but those TDLs on the 'bay look interesting. I would try them at that price if you can collect... I'll want twice that for the Studio 2. They have some common DNA but I don't know what the cabinet construction is like. Floor ports suggest transmission line arrangement but 2nd driver throws confusion into the mix.
my ex-bbc Rogers LS7t speakers were about that price, and you can pry them out of my cold, dead hands. incredible.
