I was going to do it before realising that the size of worktop was beyond my confidence level and time scales, as I would have wanted an imperfection-free finish. I bought this book which although dated is very comprehensive

On the concrete, were you intending to wet grind post-casting to acheive the final finish, or aim for something acceptable (or that could be tidied with pin grout and light finishing) straight out of the mould?

Never got that far! But I imagine given the size I was looking at that wet grinding would have been the best approach. I can imagine getting a flawless finish over the longest run (4m) would be pretty difficult.
