• Yep, Podenco (or Ibizan Hound). Mum was a pregnant rescue but he was the only pup to survive.

His ears are Dumbo-big, but the only thing he can hear with them is the rustle of food packaging. He's a sight-hound through and through.

  • Jono, did you get him from ibizanhoundrescue? if so did you meet him before adopting or just take a chance that he'd get along with you and not be a psycho..?

  • Hi, I only just saw this comment, sorry! Yep, we took a gamble as he was only 4 months old and we were keen on an Ibizan/Pharaoh Hound (or Lurcher). You're always taking a gamble with a young dog really... a 'psycho' dog is often just a dog with a behavioural issue, if you have the patience of a saint you can train most issues out.

Since having him we've had to get through: peeing indoors (at times), stalking/barking at joggers, pulling on the lead, becoming more relaxed around kids, shoe destruction, barking when impatient, nibbling (now he has his teeth), trying to extend walks, his ability to be left alone, etc. This is a pretty light list if taking on a puppy really... he's been excellent with other dogs from the get-go, took to re-call fairly easily (thankfully) and is equally great at energetic walks and long naps, which has been ideal.
