I'm seeing a builder tonight about a loft conversion. Any suggestions on things I should be asking?

Get them to confirm that they will be getting Building Control in for inspections through to sign-off if it needs it. Ask them what they use for roof insulation and if it meets whatever the current building regs suggest. Ask them about how it is to be paid.
