  • Use it to fix your felt?

  • Or just get s&s cut the frame and join using the couplers! Free travel bike sorted

  • Thanks for the info! @thross kindly donated a campagnolo 11o mm spindle & the bearings from a bsa bb and I'll see whether I can get it to work with the stronglight cups that are currently in the frame. BB width for french and bsa is 68mm and the stronglight competition is a campa copy according to velobase so I'm fairly optimistic. Although I don't want to get my hopes up too high cause sheldon says mixing spindles and cups from different brands and models is usually not advisable. I also read that the thickness of the bb cups varies across brands so we'll see. If it doesn't work, I might get a mavic bb from here but I'll try the hack-way first. Thanks to everyone for the input, another reminder why this is such a great forum!

  • Shit's about to get real

  • :O no wayyyy

  • Vanhalen fixie bike, TomvanHalen post his Super MTB

  • Keep the fork and put a dropbar on it!

  • It'll be fine towing a trailer - just pay a bit of attention to how you load it is all. If you end up not liking the trailer then let me know as I've been on the look out for a Yak for a long while!

  • Wtf is in the third pic please? Can't figure it out...

  • Wtf is in the third pic

    This. Looks nasty.

  • Paint shops have these to display colours as it gives a better impression than a sample on a flat surface. I saw these years ago at the geneva autosalon, a lot of manufacturers had samples like thes on their stand to show customers the different paint options.

  • As Sig said, it's a vaguely car-shaped blob that shows off paint samples. Gives you the whole gamut of angles and reflections

  • Finished this and took it for a short spin before the insane snowing began. HavenĀ“t ridden a mtb in 10+ years. Feels like its a pretty good fit and was quite fun so Im gonna keep it. Will probably upgrade the cranks, get a shimano derailleur, a black seatpost and new tyres. And a basket.

  • Took this to work today. Good fun after months on the studded commuter.

    Any tips on stem/bar combo? The reach is too long now, and a shorter stem would lower it which I don't want either. The stem is 17/120. I also have the original stem which is nicer and 1", but at least same length, so doesn't solve much unless I put something with crazy backsweep on.

    Swapped the chainring for a black one since last time. Looks much better. Also bidding on a Flite.

  • Inline post and a bar with more backsweep maybe? Looks like a fun ride btw!

  • Have the same stem bar combo problem with a M600 I'm building up with a shortish steerer.
    Waiting for the headset to come in so I can build it up again for testing with a 50mm riserbar I found.

    Backup option in my case will be shorter stem and massive rise motox or low rise bmx bars. Also looking into an other fork with a longer steerer.

  • Have a look at the humpert bars SJS stock, get something with a bit of sweep and a bit of rise and you'll be alright - no need to go mad wth sweep.

  • @vp1337 - I have. I built this up from frame/fork only, and I measures post dim to be 26,8. Only thing I could find was Kalloy and Thomson, so I went with the cheaper option to start with.

    @LeMesjeu - Fun building these up!

    @TM - Cool, thanks, I'll have a look.

  • +1 on cheapish Humpert bars like the ladytown.
    If you want to look at something used see if you can find some Gusset Stash Bars. They come in MTB widths and are much fun offroad. Best bars I ever had.

    Edit: Which reminds me that I miss this bike and would like it back now pls. #deathtoallbikethieves

  • The black lady town is made out of steel and really stiff if you're into that kind of thing.

    @Hulsroy #foreverinourhearts

  • Cheers. That bike sure was ace.

  • vaguely car-shaped blob

    New band name!

  • @Hulsroy that rockhopper is mouth watering.

  • Thank you. I didn't even get to go touring on it before it got stolen :(
