Thanks for the info! @thross kindly donated a campagnolo 11o mm spindle & the bearings from a bsa bb and I'll see whether I can get it to work with the stronglight cups that are currently in the frame. BB width for french and bsa is 68mm and the stronglight competition is a campa copy according to velobase so I'm fairly optimistic. Although I don't want to get my hopes up too high cause sheldon says mixing spindles and cups from different brands and models is usually not advisable. I also read that the thickness of the bb cups varies across brands so we'll see. If it doesn't work, I might get a mavic bb from here but I'll try the hack-way first. Thanks to everyone for the input, another reminder why this is such a great forum!
