Undoubtedly a repost as it's been around for ages, but really like this.

What does 'race geometry' mean these days? I've been looking at the geo charts for a whole bunch of off the peg frames - race, sportif, all-road, gravel, cx etc. and they're all over the shop. BB height, HTA, STA, rake, reach seem to vary as much within categories as they do between categories. Even chainstay length is unexpectedly short on a lot of cx and all-road bikes, especially with the popularity of 650b.
Does race geometry just mean a short headtube?

I don't mind a repost - that thing is awesome!

wheel base that's not too bus like, headtube that's not enormous and snappy steering is what I meant.
Would also quite like a horizontal top tube...

Would also be tempted to trade my 57cm ritchey logic with ultegra for a bike along those above lines ^

Jamis Renegade?

CAAD12 with 650b wheels then.
I had Saracen Avro which fiI thwas bill perfectly, while it's a great bike, it doesn't quite have the spark of says, a CAAD10.

Any more pics of the bike with a Carradice on the front rack? I'd love to see how they mounted/supported it.
-
• #14743
Looks like a small rando-type rack to me.
-
• #14744
Yeah I saw that, just wondering how it's been attached to the (presumably) handlebars.

^^^^ What's the collective noun for a group of bikepacking rigs skulking in the woods?
-
• #14746
Looks like an episode of Stranger Things except the bikes left the kids by the side of the road instead.

From here:

Nothing obvious to me, apart from this on a different bike:
Mini rack for sure, but nothing obvious attached to the bars.

Not sure, but these folks who organized that ride are local-ish to me, and are rad dudes who are usually happy to answer random queries. If the answer can't be found in this thread at some point, might be worth dropping them a line: http://gravelandgrind.com/contact-us/

The bag is fixed with some sort of straps, right where the brifters attach to the bar. Quite obvious in Spotter`s picture.

I'm guessing they've come up with some strap mounts underneath it too - at least that's what I would do.
I wouldn't trust the brake levers to secure the load alone.
I am very interested in these as well.. 3rd dibs??
