Does anyone own a Canyon?

  • The current gen of ultimate AL's have a 56cm top tube for M. So does my Aeroad. So if Canyon haven't changed their sizing then it should be the right size for you

  • They are high stack esp with those i-lock headsets .. so you may get away with pro length stem.

  • Medium is a 56cm, how tall are you?

It takes a 1 1/4 stem and a 27.2mm seatpost. Canyon sell stems for £28 plus postage, or you can get versions by Ritchey on ebay cheaper.

  • @ TTM Not sure about the AL but I'm a Medium on the Inflite/Ultimate/Aeroad. I ride 55 or 56 usually. 1.80, 76.5cm saddle height. They are quite big for their given size, but they might require a longer stem.

  • I ride a 56 with a 100mm stem. So, a 54 or 55 should be fine. Will take a punt.

  • I was thinking about getting myself an endurace AL 7.0 as a new road/touring bike.

What is it worth ? I'm not that much of a good cyclist, and Usually go for 50-70km rides like 2 times a week when it's sunny.

As the price of the frame is quite low, I thought I could put good carbon wheels and a nice groupset on it. But maybe just a carbon frame would be better ?

  • So, I've been given a 2012 AL frame and fork. What it doesn't have is a mech hanger, so I'll need to source one. Do I have to deal with canyon or do third parties sell these?

I'll also need to replace the headset and bottom bracket. If anyone can tell me what I need I'd appreciate it.

    Sorry for the basic questions.

  • Great stuff, cheers.

  • Hmmm. That hanger didn't fit, which is making me question whether this is a 2012 AL. The frame has 3 bolts holes for the hanger, but the one above from Wiggle only had two.

How can I easily work out the frame I have here.

  • Send that photo to Canyon and ask :)

  • Ignore me. The seller has clarified the frame.

  • I have one you can have, PM with your address and I will pop it in the post.

  • That's really kind, but all sorted now.

    (Love this forum)

  • I've decided to bin off my plans of building up that frame.

I have a pair of headset bearings, brand new and never fitted, that I no longer need. Before I post them back, does anyone have need of them? They cost £28.99, happy to sell for £25

    They are these

  • Oh that's too bad, what made you change your mind?

  • It was all proving a bit of a PITA to be honest. I'm going to keep an eye out for something that I can swap bits off the Storck. So standard steerer, bsa68, etc.

  • Anyone own an Endurance? Thinking I might buy a new winter bike this year and they look great.

  • Can anyone tell me what bottom bracket I'll need for a Canyon Ultimate 2016? Looking at a Praxis chainset (BB30) but not sure if it'll fit? (useless with this kind of stuff!)

*EDIT I've done some more research and looks like it won't fit, possibly with an adaptor? I'm not a fan of the Shimano chainsets and want to change to something else, what are my options for an easy swop?

  • Anyone own the inflite? Pondering it for road/gravel fun. Spec seems good for the price

  • @mylessimpson I'm riding one (AL SLX 80 Pro Race) atm. It's very good off-road, but I find the BB a bit high for actual gravel riding. I have a thing for low BBs though. Can't comment for value, I didn't pay for it.
