Not as shit as failing a 600k audax.
The annoying thing about Sat's ride was I had a backup nav (phone) but it basically fell apart on the shitty lanes so after the Garmin died I was riding one-handed, holding the phone down trying to follow the route in the dark. It was stupid and since the Garmin lost 12hrs of my ride I thought 'fuck it' and bailed, getting a train back.
I still did my training as I'd ridden to the start but have no data for it and have an Edge 1000 in a box of rice... useless Garmin waterproofing. The 600 was failed when my older Edge 800 shat itself after 450k. The etrex I was using as a backup didn't work properly either so I bailed with a train home then too.
Edge 800s 'can' fuck out on long rides. I've had it happen on a 600k before but I've also raced a bunch of 24hrs with no issues - presume the problem lies in the routing which I don't use during races.
Sat I failed a 300k audax because my Edge 1000 got water in the SD slot again - even though it was closed AND in a protective case that I'd bought after the same issue during TCR. Useless.
I'm now looking at going to a Wahoo, trying to fix my phone and probably keeping the etrex 30x as a backup because AA running is good if I lose dynamo power.
