Thanks for the reassurance. On a flat bar bike is my best option full hydro from an Mtb range. If so what's the go to set?

Flat bar are a piece of piss, you can easily get a good cheap front one, like this from Bike24 (less than £20);

You still need a rotor and adaptor (IS mount to post mount), standard stuff.
