• Ridden them yet? If not taking them for a ride tends to sort em

  • Yup for two days on the trot

  • Pump up the tyres and shake the wheels around to get sealant to that place. The sealant is spun out to the tyre tread when being ridden so is not near the rim.

    Also cheers for grndr hookup.

    ;-)

  • Cheers I'll try that, also hope it gets you the buzz you were looking for.

  • Hi, I'm buying my first tubeless wheelset. Been offered some with Stans ZTR 355 rims - does anyone have experience with these?

  • So, Schwalbe Pro One Evo on Superstar Arc 31 were really nice to install with only a track pump. Installing the tires was a bit harder than others, but not really more work than a normal stubborn tire.
Haven't tried them yet because there is to much debris on the roads, but they keep air without sealant.
Now I just need some torrential rain to clean the roads.

  • Ok, I've got:
a set of wheels with kinlin rims with tubeless tape
    tubeless valves
    marathon TLE microskin tyres
    stans no tubes sealant
    a track pump.

I have no idea what i'm doing - is this going to work?

  • Could do

    Try it and see

If it struggles to seat either add another layer of tubeless rim tape and or get a tubeless charger pump.

  • Put valves in, put tires on. Pump up. Hear clonk.
    Worked for me.
But now the gauge on my lezyne pump is broken.

    Edit: as above.

  • ok - will report back shortly.

  • Return immediately get Continental.

  • now there's lots of sealant on the floor and no air in the tyre. the rim has two layers of tape on it - i don't have any more tape.

  • Seems a long way away from anything approaching airtight...

  • now there's lots of sealant on the floor and no air in the tyre

As everybody else has said, you probably need some sort of high flow device to get them to jump up onto the bead seat. In theory there's a list of people with such devices, which include but are not limited to:
    Bontrager TLR Flash Charger
    Specialized Air Tool Blast
    Giant Control Tank
    Airshot
    Topeak Joe Blow Booster
An industrial air compressor with a tyre inflater attachment
    Ghetto Blaster

  • I left out that I put the sealant in after pumping/tires made clonk, sorry.

Guess I was lucky because the tires were so tight on the rim that they just went up.

Maybe you need one of those charger pumps or to fabricate one of those soda bottle diy inflators?

  • list of people with charger pumps and locations

    dj, New Malden
    mdcc_tester, Slough
    Chak, Fitzrovia

  • I see. There are various reports of people managing to inflate with a track pump but that appears to be not the case here.

  • You've just learned the lesson why you don't put the sealant in before mounting the tyre...

  • ok, many thanks for those suggestions.

after a surprisingly long time i think i have now convinced myself that no amount of fondling the tyre bead followed by manic pumping is going to sort this.

so, choice between obtaining one of those high flow devices, or just sticking a goddam tube in it and leaving my tubeless conversion for another day / month /year.

  • i did it like the guy in the video!

i thought that the sealant helped to get the tyre inflated but clearly i was mistake in that respect.

  • or just sticking a goddam tube in it and leaving my tubeless conversion for another day / month /year

If you use a tube to get it seated for the first time and then dismount only one bead to get the tube out, you may find you can get the tubeless up and running this weekend.

It's all a bit random, my first few sets went up and stayed up with no sealant and just a normal track pump, but my last lot took all the finagling in the world, and that was UST tyres on UST rims, none of your fake stuff.

  • Great - will try that with the other wheel which isn't full of gunk.
