Speaking of big watch purchases, I'm meeting up with a friend who just bought a rare Patek for £300k next week. I'll see if he'll let me try it on and post some wrist shots.
I don't necessarily like his favoured watch style but I envy his financial ability to build an awesome collection.

Can anyone recognise this watch? What's the significance of fourth word on this? Above seamaster. edit: better picture.. says "Meister" as indicated below

Ah yes... what is Meister? A series or editions?
-
• #21535
Company name, maybe?
-
• #21536
Meister - combining form meaning “a person expert in or renowned for” something specified by the initial element (often used derisively)........

I think they're limited, a lot of them are just for the Japanese market so you're looking at grey imports.
Amazon US has a few of them but you may get hit with import charges
Ohh... Found one from Spain for £96.

That's the one.
I find G-Shocks to be too 'busy' normally but I like the blackness about this one.

Anyone know what it would cost to get a new hesalite crystal put on a Moonwatch?
There is a crack in mine that I have just seen, no idea how it happened however.
-
• #21542
^ which is why I'll never wear a watch that doesn't have a sapphire crystal.
-
• #21543
Sapphire crystal being crack proof?
-
• #21544
I've never managed to even scratch it, even when falling off my bike and taking a gouge out out of the bezel on my Tag.
-
• #21545
I thought sapphire was more likely to smash than scratch?
-
• #21546
That may be true, but I've never met or heard of anyone smashing their sapphire crystal. And if I couldn't even scratch it in 10 years of everything from being rubbed against skateboard grip tape, to being rammed in to concrete at high velocity, I'm happy to think it's basically invincible.
-
• #21547
I know people who've smashed a crystal by dropping their watch, particularly onto tiles.
-
• #21549
I seem to be good at that at the moment.

Dude! Too soon!
