Stick your wheel in without a QR and push the rim between the chainstays
-
• #1853
Okay, I see what you are saying. But isn't that a prying force, which puts more tension on the skewer and thus effectively tightening it?
-
• #1854
I bent one of those PX titanium skewers into a nice U shape when trying to attach my wheel once. It was barely even tight.

I dunno about no forces, but i had a set on my road bike and it felt really noodly, switched to enclosed cams and it felt better.

Darn. Now I have to go and buy two sets of dura ace skewers to confirm and fix this problem.

I can't remember which one but a tester on (cough) bikeradar apparently managed to pull the back wheel out on a climb during a recent super-bike review (with lightweight skewers)..

A pipe cleaner does the job for pennies!

I've seen a variety, but a bejeweled one is a first! Did click for product info and even though a few pints had been sunk managed to resist. As @Scilly.Suffolk says pipecleaner FTW.

I usuallly just wait till I can't tell what colour they are any more, then wipe with a rag. Maybe I should put a Swarovski on my rag?

We used to put them (sans bling) on our bikes in the 80s along with spokey dokeys and a lollystick rattling the spokes. Does a pretty good job at cleaning the hubs, but you do get grimy putting them on if your spokes are dirty.
My Raleigh Milk Race had glistening hubs.

Yeah no issues here, till i took a chunk out of the rear skewer doing a skid, still works for its intended purpose its just a bit difficult to get it to clamp.

Lusso are doing their Peloton Pro bibs for £65 instead of £95. They're very nice. I've already got a pair in large, but have now bought a pair in medium as I've slimmed down a tad.

Not sure if these have already been posted here but Shopto have great deals on fizik components. Stock is starting to run low but there are still some good deals. I bought one of these, arrived two days later. Much cheaper than anywhere else.

Oh and their search is shit. You get better results searching by product name rather than brand

Road bike dropouts are typically practically vertical slots. I can't see how a wheel could get pulled forward. Maybe if you are using them in older style steel frames with the diagonally forward rear drop outs I could see that being a problem.
