I may have already asked this earlier in the thread but how are you finding this? I'll never have pockets deep enough for a real Daytona so this looks like a respectable alternative/homage.

Sourced mine from a dude on the bay up north.
U can order straight from Alpha tho and it does come with 1 year guarantee!?
Take a chance I guess, but the Seagull movement is standard issue Chinese military and seems pretty bomb proof. (Apparently it was refined from a Swiss movement back in the day.)
I would have thought most of the components were made of cheese, but at that price point around a ton, a mechanical manual chronometer is a tall order.
The winding pin is a bit sensitive IMO and needs to be given a slow steady wind every day (about 20 winds) to give 24hrs.
Also the acrylic glass will scratch when u look at it.
But it is not 50-100k so what does it matter. Bit of blurb...

Is a Daytona really £50-£100k?!?
An old photographer mate of mine bought his son one for his 18th, 12-15 years ago... I think it was 'only' £5k back then... Shirley shome mishtake?

Paul Newman.
Buddy of mine has latest Auto for around 10k.
No where near as nice.

Knowing my mate Tom, it would've been a Paul Newman... Loves the finer things in life and was smack bang in the middle of a titanic mid-life crisis... :)

Dug out my Vostok and found quite a few scrathes on the surface. A few minutes polishing with Polywatch and they were gone. Pretty impressed.

Any suggestions for a new strap style for this?
I'm bored of the bracelet and the various natos I have, any other suggestions?

I like it a lot.

Will do, matey... :)

Possibly some metal end links fitted with a leather strap? You see them on submariners occasionally.

It's a modded Seiko from yobokies.
I like the idea of shark mesh but the strap would probably cost more than the watch unless anyone has any suggestions for decent, cheap shark mesh.
Will have a google for metal end links to go with a black leather strap although a cursory search hasn't thrown up much. Cheers all

Those Cordura G-Shocks - are they likely to be available easily here at some point, or are they limited/rare/whatever? I know nothing about buying modern watches... but it would be good to have something I can wear for cycling, etc and I like the look of those. My main watch is a nice old Accutron diver that I was advised to keep well away from moisture, so it's incredibly impractical for daily wear.

'A diver that needs to be away from moisture.'
Day. Made. :o)

Yes, it's functionally useless... but it looks nice and keeps time fairly well for a silly electric watch. I just got advised it was hard to get it to seal effectively the last time I paid to get a battery changed. The guy may have been exaggerating, but I've never wanted to put it to the test by getting it properly wet.

I think they're limited, a lot of them are just for the Japanese market so you're looking at grey imports.
Amazon US has a few of them but you may get hit with import charges

Thanks - I found one on German ebay which would work out at about 100. I was just unsure if they were likely to release them here.
Unless they're all black like you like them?
